International Migratory Bird Day was established to raise global awareness of migratory birds and the need for international cooperation to conserve them. The event was attended by state management and law enforcement agencies and leading experts in bird conservation, organizations working in the field of wildlife conservation, the media and local communities.

The event includes many meaningful activities and discussions on enhancing wild and migratory bird conservation in Vietnam, a bird photography contest at Xuan Thuy National Park and a photo exhibition of migratory birds and wild birds to raise people's awareness and connect conservation units. At the seminar, speakers and delegates openly discussed the threats and challenges in the current conservation of wild birds and migratory birds. Vietnam is considered one of the areas where wild, migratory and endemic birds are concentrated in the world, creating important natural values, contributing to biodiversity conservation, tourism development and building and promoting the country's image.

Currently, Vietnam is recorded to have more than 900 bird species, of which 99 species need conservation attention, 10 species are critically endangered, 17 endangered species, 24 endangered species and 48 near-threatened species.
