P4G Summit: A great opportunity to shape a green and sustainable future together

(VAN) The strategic directions of the Party and State are creating a favorable foundation to promote a wave of creative entrepreneurship in the fields of green technology.

P4G Summit (Hanoi, April 15-17, 2025), themed "Sustainable and people-centered green transition", is the largest multilateral high-level event on green growth hosted by Vietnam in the 2021-2026 period. Vietnam Agriculture and Nature Newspaper (VAN) will update regularly Vietnam's strong commitments, proactive role and international responsibility at the P4G Summit.

On the morning of April 16, the Ministry of Science and Technology chaired the Policy Dialogue Forum with the theme "Encouraging investment, business, and promoting creative entrepreneurship in the field of green transition and sustainable development".

Green transition – an imperative requirement

Mr. Hoang Minh, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology, stated that this is an important event within the framework of the P4G Summit, aimed at promoting cooperation and finding solutions for the green transition process. It also demonstrates Vietnam's strong commitment to working alongside the international community on the journey toward a future where economic and environmental development are harmoniously integrated, where green growth is not only a goal but also a driving force for sustainable development.

According to Deputy Minister Hoang Minh, the Party and State have long identified green growth as a core development strategy, as reflected in a series of specific policies and decisions, such as: Decision No. 1393/QĐ-TTg dated September 25, 2012, by the Prime Minister, approving the National Strategy for Green Growth; Decision No. 1658/QĐ-TTg dated October 1, 2021, by the Prime Minister, approving the National Strategy for Green Growth for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.

Along with Decision No. 167/QĐ-TTg dated February 8, 2022, by the Prime Minister, approving the "Program to support private sector enterprises for sustainable business in the 2022-2025 period", which provides financial mechanisms and incentive policies to encourage creative entrepreneurship in this field; and Decision No. 687/QĐ-TTg dated June 7, 2022, by the Prime Minister, approving the Scheme for the development of the circular economy in Vietnam.

Additionally, the national scientific and technological program "Net Zero" KC.16/24-30, led by the Ministry of Science and Technology, aims to promote research and technology transfer in green technology and contribute to Vietnam's commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, as declared at COP26.

"These strategic directions have created a solid foundation for fostering a new wave of creative entrepreneurship in the fields of green technology, renewable energy, circular economy, and emission reduction solutions", Deputy Minister Hoang Minh emphasized.

Over 4,000 creative startups

According to Mr. Hoang Minh, the Vietnamese creative startup ecosystem currently consists of more than 4,000 enterprises, including 2 startup unicorns, 11 companies valued at over 100 million USD, more than 1,400 organizations dedicated to supporting startups, 202 co-working spaces, 208 investment funds, and 35 business development organizations.

Among these, it is estimated that around 200-300 enterprises are focusing on the green transition sector, covering areas such as renewable energy, environmental technology, sustainable agriculture, and the circular economy. This represents approximately 5-7% of the total number of startups in the country today.

"We are not just talking about ideas; we need to focus on concrete actions that bring about real change, drive investment, and develop sustainable business models effectively. We are facing a great opportunity to shape a green and sustainable future for Vietnam and the world. Innovation, creative entrepreneurship, and collaboration are the keys to solving environmental issues while promoting the development of a circular economy", Deputy Minister Hoang Minh emphasized.

Mr. Pham Hong Quat, Director of the National Agency for Technology Entrepreneurship and Commercialization Development (Ministry of Science and Technology), affirmed, "We are committed to continuing to be a bridge between the stakeholders in the ecosystem, working alongside policymakers, businesses, and international partners to realize sustainable development initiatives through green innovation".
