Long Khanh A weaving village is recognized as an intangible cultural heritage

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has just decided to classify the shawl weaving village in Long Khanh A commune, Hong Ngu district (Dong Thap) into the list of national intangible cultural heritage and traditional crafts.

Through many ups and downs of time, products from the shawl weaving village in Long Khanh A commune, Hong Ngu district not only have cultural characteristics, but also bring a stable source of income for local people.

According to the Long Khanh A Commune Shawl Weaving Cooperative, the locality has about 55 households engaged in shawl weaving, with more than 130 looms. Each year, the craft village supplies nearly 2 million bandanas of all kinds to the market. The bandanas of Long Khanh A shawl weaving village are sold to domestic and foreign markets. In particular, the bandannas of Long Khanh A shawl weaving village were also given and introduced by leaders of Dong Thap province to partners and investors when coming to work in Dong Thap.

In recent years, craft villagers have also invested in machinery in the weaving process to increase productivity. Not only weaving scarves, people also use shawl fabric to make many other fashion accessories, attracting the attention of tourists. Currently, the craft village also welcomes many domestic and foreign tourists to visit and experience.
