According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, more than 3,242,000 ha of rice have been grown in summer-autumn crop and autumn-winter crop across the country including nearly 714,000 in northern provinces, 310,000 ha in the north-central provinces, over 332,000 ha in the south-central and Central Highland provinces and nearly 1,887,000 ha in southern provinces.
To further protect the crops and implement COVID-19 prevention and control measures, the ministry asked localities to observe, detect and tackle crop diseases.
Local authorities were asked to call on and support farmers to take care of the crops, properly fertiliser and carry out measures to manage insects that are harmful to crops.
The ministry and localities would also tighten inspections over the trade of agricultural materials to avoid sellers illegally push agricultural materials’ prices up or sell substandard products during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The provincial/city People’s Committees ask trade departments and relevant agencies to ensure agricultural materials' supply such as seeds, breeding, fertilisers and pesticide.
Authorities and agencies concentrate on protecting key agriculture production zones from diseases and ensure labour for disease prevention and control as well as crop harvest.
Authorities create favourable conditions for vehicles to transport farming products, goods and agriculture materials.
The ministry’s Plant Protection Department, Crop Production Department and their branches in localities would tighten inspecting crop disease prevention and control measures.
They would be timely assist localities to tackle in cases the disease(s) break out.Agencies and localities were required to report about their crop disease prevention and control activities.
The Plant Protection Department would receive reports, listen to difficulties/problems and then report to the ministry’s leaders for timely directions responding to the crop diseases.
