The People's Committee of Thieu Hoa District (Thanh Hoa) has just issued a document directing the handling of information reported by the Vietnam Agricultural Newspaper regarding the article titled "Caught red-handed: a pig farm with nearly 1,000 pigs poisoning the entire river."
In addition, the People's Committee of Thieu Hoa has established a verification team to check and document the situation with the owner of this facility. The inspection record notes that there is wastewater discharge from the pig farm into the river.
The working group has requested Mr. Ngo Van Lam's household to refrain from discharging wastewater from the settling tank through the drainage ditch into the environment; to rectify the situation by dredging the remaining waste in the storage tanks. They are also advised to use biological products for decomposition and odour control, continue to reduce the herd size and clean the pigpen and farm premises.
