According to statistics from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Lang Son province, the whole province has 22 large-scale livestock farms which are applying biosecurity measures.

A sucessful farm is Lung Khoang Cooperative in Xuan Mai commune, Van Quan district with a breeding scale of about 1,500 breeding sows and more than 2,500 commercial piglets.

Farms raising commercial chickens and laying hens in districts of Cao Loc, Loc Binh, Chi Lang, Huu Lung and Bac Son have the scale from 3,000 to 20,000 chickens per batch.

Rabbit breeding farms in Man Duong B village, Mai Sao commune, Chi Lang district with the scale of 3,000 rabbits per batch. In Quang Lac commune, Lang Son city, An Hong Agricultural Production and Service Cooperative operating since late 2019, has now become a "good model to follow" in livestock production.

Luu Thu Hien, Director of An Hong Agricultural Production and Service Cooperative said: "The farm is built on an area of more than 13,000 sq.m and is invested methodically with closed livestock items. Breeds and animal feeds are provided by leading prestigious suppliers in the country."

Recently, although African swine fever caused the total pig herd in the province to decrease, the cooperative has so far maintained more than 1,500 sows and commercial pigs, she said.

With the chicken farming model in Nhat Hoa commune, Bac Son district, Duong Huu Hung said that since late 2019, his family invested more than VND3 billion to build a chicken farm.

The closed barn area is fully equipped with modern machinery and equipment such as automatic feeders and waste treatment systems, so no disease occurs.Hung's farm cooperates with Chicken P.T Co., Ltd (in the northern province of Hai Duong) to carry out product consumption.

Accordingly, on average, each year, the family raises 5 or 6 batches of chickens, each has 14,000 to 16,000 chickens.

So far, they have sold more than 200 tonnes of commercial chickens to Chicken P.T Co., Ltd. After deducting expenses, the family's income is nearly VND3 billion per year.

The agricultural sector of Lang Son evaluates that cooperatives focus on the selection of breeds and animal feed from the leading reputable suppliers in the country.

Supplying companies when providing seed and feed also give technical advice, guide the breeding process to product consumption.

Therefore, cooperatives do not have to worry about diseases and output for products.

Nguyen Nam Hung, Director of the Sub-Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Lang Son province, said: “These breeding models have all made production linkages from the supply of seeds, animal feed, and techniques, product consumption. Thereby, it creates a closed cycle in the livestock value chain. The farms have signed contracts with large companies such as CP Vietnam Livestock Joint Stock Company, Japfa Vietnam Company."
