Lam Dong to import 55 copyrighted flower varieties

(VAN) Lam Dong will import 55 copyrighted flower varieties from 7 countries to serve the development strategy of the flower production industry for the period of 2021-2025.

Lam Dong Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has established a detailed plan to implement the scheme on importing copyrighted flower varieties to help develop the flower production industry for the period of 2021-2025.

The objectives are to support enterprises with the import of new copyrighted flower varieties with high commercial value, adaptive to Lam Dong's farming conditions to boost production, diversify products to meet market requirements, improve economic efficiency for producers, as well as help build and develop the brand "Da Lat - miracle from good soil"

Accordingly, the province will import 55 flower varieties from 7 countries: the Netherlands, Costa Rica, Japan, Thailand, Israel, Ecuador and China with a total of 2,012,000 seeds, tops, plants, leaves and tubers of all kinds such as larkspurs, cala lily, fire lily, Carolina lily, ranunculus, dahlia, auspicious, bell flower, anthurium, rose...

Importing enterprises will deploy 220 appraisal points to evaluate the cultivational value and use value of new varieties.

Lam Dong Department of Agriculture and Rural Development assigned 5 units under the Da Lat Flower Association to import new flower varieties, including: Dalat Hasfarm Co., Ltd., Linh Ngoc Co., Ltd., Hong Hoang Agriculture Co., Ltd., Hoa Chi An Co., Ltd. and Sakata Vietnam Co., Ltd

The total cost to import copyrighted flower varieties to help develop the flower production industry is over 22.4 billion VND, because the enterprises under the Da Lat Flower Association have self-invested funds to import varieties.

Lam Dong Department of Agriculture and Rural Development requested the Provincial Sub-Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection to coordinate with the Da Lat Flower Association to establish a plan, monitor, inspect and supervise the import of varieties and monitor the pests on all imported varieties.

The Da Lat Flower Association orients and selects businesses with enough credibility and capacity to implement the scheme on importing copyrighted flower varieties to help the development of flower production for the period 2021-2025.

Simultaneously, the Association transfer imported varieties in accordance with regulations to farmer households, cooperatives and enterprises, ensuring that the varieties meet the standards and must have affiliate contracts with businesses along the value chain and coordinate to guide the enterprises to actively produce, manage and protect imported varieties sources, assess field pests for the transferred flower varieties.

Members participating in the implementation of the scheme actively produce, manage and protect imported seed varieties, purchase copyrights, and organize appraisals on imported varieties according to regulations.
