Dak Lak durian prices at VND 40,000 per kg, increasing every alternate day

As stated in recent news, the price of durian has dropped to a record low while agricultural consumption has been impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in Dak Lak, when Directive 16 was implemented to better prevent and control the Covid-19 pandemic, travel, and circulation of goods were hampered, resulting in a decrease in durian prices and some difficulties in collection and consumption phases.

However, after a series of efforts by local governments and competent organizations to address inadequacies and problems in production support and promotion, consumption of products increased, and the price of durian reached VND 40,000 per kg and escalated day by day.

The department warned of a circumstance in which some dealers and purchasers used false information that "durian prices had reached a record low" to drive down prices and mislead sellers and farmers to sell the fruit at a loss.

To assist and create favorable conditions for people, all economic sectors, traders, organizations, and individuals within and outside the province are urged to participate in avocado and durian harvesting, purchasing, processing, and consumption in the province during the crop year 2021 for maximum efficiency while avoiding damage to farmers.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development intends to improve communication with farmers and to lead them toward receiving selected information; rallying groups and people to refrain from using the pandemic scenario to drive down avocado and durian prices.
