Latest Arabica and Robusta prices on 06/20/2024

Today, coffee prices on the New York exchange remain unchanged due to a trading halt. The solitary movement allowed Robusta prices on the London exchange to rise sharply.

However, experts indicate that all three major market players still hold significant buying positions, suggesting the potential for continued position liquidations. Ongoing sales could destabilize the market for the remainder of July.

A report from the International Coffee Organization (ICO) shows that global coffee exports in April reached 12 million bags, a 16.8% increase compared to the same period last year. Overall, the first seven months of the 2023/24 season (October 2023 to April 2024) saw exports nearing 81 million bags, an 11.1% increase (equivalent to 8.1 million bags) over the same period in the 2022/23 season.

In May 2024, Robusta and Arabica prices on the global market fell compared to the end of April 2024 due to forecasts of increased coffee production in Brazil.

Drought and pests have severely impacted coffee yields in many regions. Vietnam's coffee production for the 2023/24 season is estimated to drop by 20% compared to the previous season, down to 1.47 million tons, the lowest in four years, putting pressure on the global Robusta supply.

Thus, global coffee prices on 06/20/2024, show mixed movements compared to yesterday.
