World coffee prices today have no new fluctuations. Last week, the price of Robusta futures for May delivery increased by $ 50/ton, while the price of Arabica for May delivery increased by 1.9 cents/lb.

According to Nikkei Asia, the global spot price of this agricultural product is near record levels, driven by growing demand from China's middle class. Meanwhile, some major producers appear to be facing reduced output due to poor crop performance.

In addition to adverse weather such as high temperatures and drought in Southeast Asia caused by the El Nino phenomenon, some farmers are switching to growing other more effective crops such as durian, and rubber,... which is also the reason why coffee output is shrinking.

Currently, Robusta beans are cheaper than Arabica. Taisuke Horie - Director of the beverage department at trading company Marubeni said: “Some retailers are replacing Arabica with Robusta in an effort to avoid skyrocketing retail prices”.

“Growing demand is tightening Rbusta supply, leading to higher prices,” he added.

Thus, world coffee prices on 03/25/2024 simultaneously moved sideways compared to yesterday.
