According to the 2021-2030 Agricultural Outlook of OECD - FAO, in the global market, avocado is prognosticated to be the most exported fruit by 2030, having the potential to reach 30.9 million tons and surpass pineapple and mango.
In particular, Mexico is the largest avocado producer and exporter in the world. Mexico's avocado production is forecast to grow at an average of 5% per year over the next 10 years. Mexico's avocado exports increased thanks to the strong consumer demand in the USA.
Regardless of the elevating competition from other countries, Mexico is expected to continue to increase its share of global avocado exports to 63% by 2030. In which, the USA and the EU are the country’s main avocado export markets.
The share of avocado imports from the USA is expected to account for 40% and 31% from the EU in consideration of the total value of avocado imports globally by 2030. In addition, avocado imports are also increasing rapidly in many other markets such as China and a number of countries in the Middle East.
