A Korean company sponsors the planting of 2 ha of mangrove forest

The project will be implemented from 2024 to 2033, including one year of forest planting, four years of tree care, and five years of forest protection, with a planting density of 2,500 mangrove trees per hectare.

MangLub Vietnam Co., Ltd. is the project implementer in the alluvial area of Truong Long Hoa commune, Chau Thanh district, Tra Vinh province. After completing the planting, care, and protection phases, MangLub Vietnam will hand over the forest to the management authorities and commit not to trade carbon credits for this forest area.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Hoang, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tra Vinh Province, stated that the total cost of the project is approximately VND 510 million, funded by Seorin Co., Ltd. as a non-refundable grant.

The project aims to expand the mangrove forest belt, respond to climate change, reduce biodiversity degradation, and ensure community security against natural disasters. Additionally, it will create job opportunities, improve income and public health, and contribute to increasing the forest coverage area in the province.

The province has tasked the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development with overseeing, inspecting, and monitoring the project's implementation. This department is also responsible for appraising the technical design and planting budget and providing technical support for planting and caring for the forest according to current regulations.

The People's Committee of Chau Thanh district is tasked with directing the People's Committee of Truong Long Hoa commune to coordinate and support forest planting and care activities, while also promoting and encouraging households and local communities to participate in monitoring and evaluating these activities.
