Vinamilk accompanies the Robotacon WRO 2024 competition talents

(VAN) Vinamilk brings the spirit of innovation to 1,500 students at the international robot competition with the theme ‘Earth Allies’.

Vinamilk continues as a partner for ROBOTACON WRO 2024, a major robot competition for young talents, aimed at selecting teams to represent Vietnam in Singapore and Turkey. In addition to supporting the organization and providing nutritional products for over 1,500 contestants, Vinamilk and the event organizers have introduced numerous innovative activities and content focused on sustainable development.

The largest robot competition for youth

This year’s competition features numerous innovations in both organization and theme, with notable improvements in both quantity and quality. A total of 488 teams (more than 1,500 contestants) from 369 primary, secondary, and high schools across 28 provinces and cities, including Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Hanoi, Da Nang, and Hue..., are participating.

On August 9-10, the Northern Regional Finals kicked off with over 200 teams. The top-performing teams will next compete against the best representatives from the Central and Southern regions in the national finals. From there, 16 top teams will be selected to represent Vietnam at the WORLD ROBOT OLYMPIAD 2024 in Turkey. Additionally, the 20 best teams in the B0 category (ages 6 to 9) will have the chance to participate in the International Robot Creative Competition in Singapore.

At the official opening of the competition, Mr Lasse Pedersen Hjortshoj, Counselor at the Danish Embassy in Vietnam, remarked: “We are thrilled to see annual growth in both the quantity and quality of contestants, demonstrating the positive reception of the values that the competition brings. The event also enjoys support from local leaders, the education sector, schools, and businesses invested in the development of children and the sustainable future of our planet. We appreciate all the support”.

Each year, the competition features a major theme addressing global issues impacting the younger generation. The 2024 competition, themed “Earth Allies,” offers contestants the chance to explore and create solutions related to sustainable development and environmental protection.

Commenting on Vinamilk's support for this year’s event, Mr Nguyen Quang Tri, CEO of Vinamilk, stated: “As mastering technology becomes an essential skill for future global citizens, global climate change is a significant issue requiring collective action. This aligns with both Vinamilk and the ROBOTACON WRO 2024 program's goals, as we focus on the theme 'Earth Allies.”

“We hope the competition will help students develop their technological thinking, create innovative solutions for environmental protection, and address the shared responsibility of our planet—a noble duty that young people should embrace from an early age”.

Technology for a sustainable future

With the theme “Earth Allies,” Vinamilk, in collaboration with the organizers, has designed challenges for students aged 6 to 19 to solve through creative technological and automation solutions. The tasks include: Sustainable Agriculture - Green Farms (Novice), Building green cities (Intermediate), and Protecting our planet (Advanced)

According to teachers and experts, a unique and surprising aspect of this year’s competition is that the tasks not only require students to demonstrate their robot skills but also simulate real-world green solutions such as waste collection, recycling packaging, and reforestation to protect the Earth. This approach helps students develop the ability to use technology to address issues like excessive depletion of natural resources, environmental pollution, global warming, and climate change...

Mr Hoang Minh Cuong, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People’s Committee, remarked that sustainable development is both a necessary and mandatory requirement for Vietnam to integrate into global production chains and enter developed markets worldwide. Achieving this goal requires a focus on children and early education.

"I highly appreciate the competition's theme of 'Earth Allies,' as well as the organization and the framing of tasks that equip children with knowledge and awareness about protecting the Earth and paying more attention to environmental sustainability. The involvement of businesses is also crucial as it helps students access modern equipment and new technology techniques applied in production, creating a valuable platform for students," Mr. Cuong noted.

Another special activity this year is that finalists in the national round will have the opportunity to visit Green Farm dairy farms and Vinamilk’s production facility. This visit will allow them to learn about the application of advanced technology, robots, AI, and practices related to sustainability and environmental protection.
