On November 1, The Trade Promotion centre for Agriculture coordinated with the Department of Cooperatives and Rural Development and, the Department of Quality, Processing and Market Development to organize a press conference to share information about the Vietnam Craft Villages Conservation and Development Festival 2023

Continuing the success of the Vietnam Craft Village Festival in previous years, in 2023, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinates with the Hanoi People's Committee to organize the Vietnam Craft Villages Conservation and Development Festival 2023 on an international scale. This is an important activity to preserve, preserve, recreate and promote the identity of the nation's traditional cultural values, forming contemporary cultural features of Vietnamese craft villages.

The Festival takes the craft villages of Hanoi city as the centre focus to spread to other localities. Thereby creating an environment to exchange experiences and knowledge in producing and trading craft village products; honouring artisans, skilled workers, and workers in craft villages; and promoting and introducing traditional craft villages and craft streets in Hanoi city and the whole country. Consequently, this will gradually promote consumption, improve product value and develop tourism in craft villages.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Tien, Director of the Trade Promotion centre for Agriculture said that the highlight of this year's Festival is the International Fair introducing craft village products and OCOP products. The scale will consist of 300 display booths, including 100 domestic and international businesses, offering visitors many typical handicraft products such as: Bat Trang ceramics, Dong Ho paintings, Hoa Tien Nghe An brocade weaving, Handicrafts from Ben Tre coconut... Additionally, there is a space displaying handicraft products with a scale of 20 booths from Thailand, Russia, Laos, Indonesia...

To organize the Festival, right from the beginning of May, the organizing committee launched the Vietnam Handicraft Products Contest in 2023 as well as contacted foreign partners to attract the participation of international organizations. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has decided to establish a Steering Committee, Organizing Committee and sub-committees to implement the contents of the Vietnam Craft Villages Conservation and Development Festival 2023.

Unlike previous years, this year's Festival will take place with many outstanding and meaningful activities such as: Ceremony honoring talented artisans and workers; Handicraft product contest; traditional cultural art performance programs; conference "Preserving and developing craft villages" international conference.

In particular, a series of activities in response to the Festival are chaired and implemented by the Hanoi People's Committee such as: The honouring ceremony of the Craft Ancestors and the culture, tourism and trade week of Van Phuc craft village in 2023 with the theme "Van Phuc - Colors of Integration"; OCOP product introduction week associated with the culture of the Southern provinces; Hanoi Autumn Festival; Hanoi international handicraft gift fair in 2023 and visits and experience activities at craft villages in Hanoi: Bat Trang, Van Phuc, Duong Lam...

According to Ms Nguyen Thi Hoang Yen, Deputy Director of the Department of Cooperatives and Rural Development, the event is a space for Vietnamese craft villages to have the opportunity to exchange and learn craft village development models in countries around the world such as Italy, San Marino,... where craft villages are famous for items such as ceramics, sculpture... thereby opening up the direction of selling products with new thinking, enhancing Vietnamese products, instead of following the path of simply selling the products.
