On October 14, Mr. Rodolfo (Rudy) Sabas, had a meeting with the People's Committee of Tra Vinh province to discuss the cooperation plans and programs between Tra Vinh and Iloilo province (Philippines).
At the meeting, Mr. Rudy Sabas recalled the collaboration with Tra Vinh since 1992, when it was still Tra Vinh Community College model (Tra Vinh University now). He wished to continue bridging the provinces of Tra Vinh and Iloilo, towards signing a cooperation agreement between these provinces.
According to Mr. Rudy Sabas, Iloilo is a province of the Philippines, located in the Western Visayas region. It serves as the regional center and economic hub of the Western Visayas. Iloilo shares similarities with Tra Vinh province in fields, such as aquacultural development and tourism models, especially agricultural farm-based tourism, which is like eco-tourism in Tra Vinh.
Mr. Rudy Sabas proposed that Tra Vinh province consider and promote cooperation with Iloilo province in several fields and arrange a visit to Iloilo soon so that the two sides can engage and exchange ideas for collaboration.
Vice Chairman of Tra Vinh People’s Committee, Nguyen Quynh Thien, agreed to the cooperation with Iloilo province. The two sides will collaborate in four following areas: agriculture, education and training, culture, and tourism.
While awaiting approval from the Provincial Party Committee and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tra Vinh province will visit and work with Iloilo province at the invitation of Mr. Rudy Sabas by the end of 2024. After the signing a cooperation agreement, specific departments, agencies, and sectors from both sides will be assigned to develop detailed cooperation plans.
