The project has been approved by the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province (now Hue city) and is one of nine initiatives under the EU-Vietnam Green Transition Partnership Programme led by women and funded by the European Union. The project aims to enhance the resilience of communities vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, particularly local women by diversifying livelihood opportunities through nature-based, ecosystem-appropriate solutions. It also seeks to improve biodiversity and the quality of ecosystems, especially in wetland conservation areas and the Hương River basin.

Speaking at the workshop, Associate Professor Dr. Trinh Thi Dinh, Director of CSRD, stated that Huế is one of the localities most clearly affected by climate change, with increasing frequency and intensity of extreme weather events and natural disasters. Empowering women is not only an urgent need but also an effective strategy to reduce the social burden caused by these disasters. Women have a deep understanding of their local context, a strong desire to improve quality of life, and a readiness to contribute actively to community activities.

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Roberto Ruiz, First Counsellor of the European Union Delegation to Vietnam, shared that, with the experience of international partners, the deep understanding of local communities by CSRD and other local organizations, along with the support and cooperation of local authorities, they believe the project will bring practical ancliamd most appropriate support to the community, contributing to realizing the climate response and socio-economic development goals of the locality.

The project will be implemented from 2025 to 2028, with a total budget of 890,579 euros, of which 464,446 euros (equivalent to VND 12,235,829,869) will be directly managed by CSRD.
