This farmer sells farm produce across China, and now she hopes to go global

(VAN) And now, after a decade, Liang aims higher. "In 2024, I hope we can start trying out overseas online retails while prospering our domestic store," she told CGTN.
Liang, who is also a deputy to the 14th National People's Congress, said she will bring suggestions on the training and hiring of high-quality talent in rural e-commerce to Beijing for the upcoming gathering in March, hoping these online retails talents could help her and many others to ship their agricultural products to every corner of the world.

Liang Qianjuan quit her promising job in Guangdong Province 11 years ago and decided to open an online store, with a goal to sell farm produce from her hometown Huixian County of Gansu Province to the entire country.

"I found out that many people there, including my colleagues, love the farm produce from deep in the mountains. So (the idea of opening an online store) came to me as in my hometown, we have many great agricultural products, like mushrooms, raw honey, Chinese medicines, walnuts and many more," Liang said.

China now has the world's largest online retail market, with total sales crosses $2.17 trillion in 2023, and what people might not know is that around 16 percent of the sales actually came from the villages. Chinese farmers too are cashing in on the online shopping trend, sending their fresh farm produce such as eggs, vegetables and nuts to the entire country.
