Vietnam's deepening international integration underscores the agricultural industry's commitment to global standards and shared responsibilities. Vietnamese agriculture is diligently translating its efforts into comprehensive actions.

Through proactive production aligned with consumer demand, persistent trade promotion, and international negotiations, Vietnam's agricultural sector thrives amidst global economic challenges. Despite difficulties in the agricultural export market, the entire agricultural sector has maintained a high added value, estimated at 3.83%, marking the highest growth rate in recent years.

Export turnover surpassed $53 billion, with a record trade surplus of $12.07 billion, up by 43.7%. Several export items have reached record highs, such as fruits and vegetables, which amounted to $5.69 billion, up by 69.2%; and rice, which reached $4.78 billion.

Overcoming challenges, agriculture continues to solidify its role as an economic pillar, ensuring food security, maintaining economic balances, and contributing to national economic stability.

The farmers stand as the cornerstone of rural rejuvenation efforts. Currently, 78% of communes nationwide meet the new rural standards. with 20 provinces and centrally run cities achieving a 100% compliance rate.

In 2024, Vietnam's agricultural sector confronts numerous challenges. The prices of input materials remain elevated, and the looming threat of potential epidemics in crops and livestock poses a risk of outbreak. Climate change, compounded by the repercussions of global conflicts and instability, further exacerbates the situation.

The sector is committed to agricultural economic thinking, transitioning from single-sector development to multi-sector cooperation, promoting multi-value integration in agricultural, forestry, and fishery products, and transitioning from supply chains to commodity chains in alignment with the directives of the Party Central Committee.

Green agriculture paves the way for Vietnam to achieve a prosperous future, not only for Vietnamese farmers but also for the nation as a whole, as it embraces its responsibility towards the collective fate of our planet amidst global climate challenges.

As we enter the new year of 2024, Vietnam's green agriculture heralds a future brimming with green hope for the nation.
