The TH milk project in Russia is symbolic of Vietnam-Russia economic and commercial cooperation

(VAN) On October 13, the inauguration ceremony of phase 1 of TH Group's farm with a scale of 6,000 dairy cows—a total herd of 12,000 cows—took place in Volokolamsk, Moscow province.

Attending were Governor of Moscow Province Andrey Vorobyo and Vietnam’s Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien.

Minister Nguyen Hong Dien judged that this is "one of the symbolic projects for economic and commercial cooperation" between Vietnam and Russia. Under the leadership of Labor Hero Thai Huong, Founder of the Group, the TH project in Russia is considered one of the typical stories, a model for the effectiveness of preferential policies to promote investment from the Russian government.

TH Group invested in the Russian Federation in 2015 with a project of high-tech dairy farming and milk processing. The project has a capital investment of USD 2.7 billion over 10 years and was implemented in the context of Russia facing difficulties because of the embargo and food shortages, especially dairy products. The Group also plans to establish a distribution chain with 300 TH True Mart stores across Russia.

TH's dairy farming project in Moscow province has a total investment of USD 190 million, a total herd of 24,000 cows (12,000 dairy cows), and an expected output of 131 million tons of milk/year. The project includes two farms with a scale of 6,000 dairy cows/farm located in Volokolamsk and Shatura districts.

The project of building TH Farm in Volokolamsk, Moscow province, is divided into two phases. Phase 1 has been 100% completed. As of August 1, 2023, the total herd at TH Farm in Moscow has reached approximately 2,800 dairy cows, of which nearly 1,200 heads are lactating with an average productivity of 40 liters/head/day - Russia's top productivity and also one of the top productivities of dairy cows in the world.

Highlights of Russia's leading large-scale dairy farm

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Ngo Minh Hai, General Director of TH RUS Company in the Russian Federation, said that up to now, TH has completed the construction and operation of more than 20 works and systems, meeting the scale of a leading large dairy farm in Russia, such as a postpartum cow care area, a milking area, a dairy hospital, a forage ensilage ditch, cow barns, a feed center, a wastewater treatment station, and other necessary infrastructure for the farm operation.

Especially the highlight of technology at TH Farm in Volokolamsk, Moscow, is a system of 150 world-leading modern agricultural machinery, imported from famous brands such as CLAAS (Germany), CB (UK), and CAIT (USA), along with leading modern cow herd management and milking technologies from DeLaval (Netherlands).

TH's dairy cows at Volokolamsk farm are worn a health monitoring chip and managed veterinary methodically, including early detection of mastitis, estrus monitoring, and nutrition control. Currently, TH is still investing and bringing in new types of machinery and equipment every year.

In the first seven months of 2023, the farm's total milk output reached nearly 10,000 tons, an increase of 1,500 tons over the same period last year. Regarding milk quality, fresh milk from TH Farm in Russia has an average fat ratio of 3.6% and a protein ratio of 3.2%. TH is able to compete fairly with Russian and European milk producers in the market because of its outstanding quality and optimal costs, thanks to the intertwined application of modern technology and management technology.

All milk volumes from TH Farm in Moscow are being sold as first-class and "Extra"-class (excellent quality) to large dairy firms or international food corporations in Russia during the period when TH is building a milk processing factory in Kaluga province.

To achieve outstanding productivity, in addition to factors such as high-tech applications and methodical care procedures, the genetic quality of TH Farm's herd of HF purebred high-yield dairy cows is also a prerequisite for the quality of a clean fresh milk line that is top-rated in Russia. TH's herd of cows in Russia is imported from the USA, selected directly by Israeli and TH experts from the best farms across the country, and has a high genetic index, ensuring milk yield, fertility, disease resistance, and heredity for future generations.

“As of now, TH Group has invested hundreds of millions of USD of its own capital in modern, high-capacity agricultural and construction machinery to reclaim tens of thousands of hectares of land abandoned for decades in Russia and turn wasteland into fertile fields of wheat, grass, corn, sunflower, and mustard seeds. TH's farms are all assessed as the largest and most beautiful in the Russian Federation,” said Mr. Ngo Minh Hai.

Symbol of Vietnam-Russia economic and commercial cooperation

Attending the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Hong Dien, Minister of Industry and Trade, judged that TH Group's dairy farm in Moscow province is "one of the symbolic projects for economic and commercial cooperation" between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.

“I propose TH to strive with internal strength and a part of President Thai Huong's heart for the country and people of Russia to complete this project well, to be able to tell fairy tales for children," Minister  Nguyen Hong Dien said.

Currently, Russia aims to be self-sufficient in milk and milk production. Preferential policies (on taxes, procedures, price support, etc.) of the Russian Government aim to attract investors in the field of dairy farming and milk processing and accelerate the rapid increase in dairy herds (currently reaching nearly 8 million heads) in Russia.

The number of Russia’s dairy farms is expected to increase by 800 farms within 3 years. This is part of a larger plan to bring Russia out of its dependence on imported food and become a net exporter in the next decade.

TH Group is one of the investors actively contributing to the above-mentioned big plan. TH's investment decision not only shows a beautiful gesture of gratitude to Russia—the country that used to spare no effort in helping Vietnam during the war—but also is a decision to seize the golden spot in business, contributing to awakening the great agricultural potential that has been neglected for a long time in Russia.

"We all know that doing high-tech agriculture is not easy because of large capital investment, slow recovery, and the dependence on the Mother Nature, so I fervently recommend that the Government of the Russian Federation and the Moscow Provincial Government, especially the people of the project area, continue to help and create conditions for TH to successfully implement this project," Minister Nguyen Hong Dien emphasized.

The Governor of Moscow Province affirmed that Moscow always supports the project so that it can be implemented under the best conditions.

Responding to Vietnam’s Minister of Industry and Trade, Mr. Andrey Vorobyov, Governor of Moscow Province, affirmed that the TH milk project from the first day has always been supported by senior leaders of Vietnam and Russia, as well as local authorities of Moscow province to be able to be implemented under the best conditions.

The Governor of Moscow also assessed that, with the application of world-end technology in livestock farming and production activities and the use of a qualified workforce, TH will certainly develop very high-quality products with great competitive power. "We hope that the project will soon launch high-quality products to the market, bringing great profits to both Vietnamese investors and Russian people," Mr. Andrey Vorobyov expressed.
