On October 25, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Green Economy Forum and Exhibition (GEFE) 2024 concluded successfully, exceeding expectations by attracting over 8,000 participants, thereby affirming its role as a bridge between Europe and Vietnam.
The event featured the presence of high-level leaders, including an important opening speech by Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son and European Commission Vice President Margaritis Schinas. This gathering fostered meaningful dialogues on sustainable development and energy transition.
The exhibition showcased innovative advancements from over 200 companies across 13 national pavilions, with active participation from trade agencies and diplomatic delegations. The booths highlighted technologies in renewable energy, circular economy models, sustainable agriculture, and various other sectors.
Both new participants and returning organizations from the inaugural year in 2022 praised GEFE as a platform that promotes extensive cooperation and opens doors for collaboration and investment in green initiatives.
Over the past three days, high-level seminars on topics such as sustainable finance, water crisis solutions, and carbon markets have attracted a large audience, demonstrating public interest in the green transition. The event emphasized innovation and collaboration, creating a space where businesses, governments, and outstanding startups could exchange ideas and accelerate the process of building a green future.
On the final day, "GEFE Student Day" celebrated young talent with hundreds of booths offering exciting activities and career talks featuring speakers who inspired and connected with the students. The highlight of the event was the final round of the GEFE Business Challenge, where young participants tackled green problem-solving challenges alongside domestic and international businesses.
After more than three months of training, the Odyssey team won the highest award with their sustainable business model using pyrolysis technology and Terra Preta. This innovative solution earned the team a full scholarship for the Summer Course on Sustainable Development 2025 at Kühne Logistics University (KLU) in Germany, inspiring the next generation of green leaders.
While GEFE 2024 has concluded, the momentum generated by the event will continue to drive the green transition for many years to come. Stay tuned for the upcoming GEFE Report, which will provide important discussions and recommendations for the Vietnamese delegation attending COP29.
