The GlobalGAP vegetable farm specializes in EU exports

(VAN) Two tons of GlobalGAP vegetables are exported to EU every week by Viet Rau Farm. These agricultural products are manufactured using the most advanced and stringent techniques available today.

According to Ms. Tran Thi Tu Oanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Crop Production, Plant Protection - Dong Nai Irrigation, we visited Viet Rau Joint Stock Company's (Viet Rau Farm) organic vegetable farm. This farm specializes in producing vegetables and fruits for export to the EU in accordance with GlobalGAP standards.

Viet Rau Farm, located in the Lang De region (Tan Hiep commune, Long Thanh district, Dong Nai), stands out among the cassava and bananas as a singular landmark. Viet Rau Farm's membrane house and net house system is like a pristine illustration amidst immense vegetation among traditionally cultivated farms.

Viet Rau Farm currently produces 32 varieties of fruits and vegetables in accordance with GlobalGAP standards. Every week, Viet Rau Farm exports two cargoes of approximately two tons of assorted vegetables and fruits via airplane.

Driving us on a tour of Viet Rau Farm, it was not difficult to observe skinks frolicking or sunning themselves. Mr. Nguyen Tien Luong, farm manager of Viet Rau Joint Stock Company, is pleased: "This is the clearest evidence that the farm does not use herbicides, so 'the skink guys and girls' in Viet Rau are considered to live in a very safe and healthy environment."

Mr. Luong added that the presence of this reptile is also important for balancing the insect population in a positive direction, without harming the vegetation. "These skinks will eat away locusts, grasshoppers, ant eggs, and insects that destroy crops...", Mr. Luong continued.

harvesting, vegetables are transported to the processing area in accordance with stringent procedures involving the use of pure water and the elimination of hazardous intestinal microorganisms. Before being packaged for sale, vegetables are centrifuge-dried. "Consumers can take this vegetable home and cook it without washing it again," Mr. Luong explained.

Twenty net houses and conservatories are utilized by Viet Rau Farm to cultivate hydroponically grown vegetables and verdant greens.

Hydroponic agriculture yields two to three times more than conventional agriculture. Particularly, proactively supplying water and nutrients in conduits directly to the plant roots will assist technicians in proactively balancing the amount of nutrients supplied to plants in accordance with predetermined requirements.

According to Ms. Tran Thi Tu Oanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Crop Production, Plant Protection - Dong Nai Irrigation, Viet Rau Farm is one of the province's most prominent examples of high-tech agriculture. This high-tech, automated farm aims to export agricultural products to demanding international markets.

Europe is a big market for fresh fruit and vegetables. The demand is stable but there is a lot of competition. There is an increasing demand for avocados, blueberries, mangoes, and sweet potatoes. Health, flavor and convenience all influence the demand for fresh fruit and vegetables in Europe.

Vietnam has many more opportunities to increase the export of fruits and vegetables to the European Union - the world's largest market, thanks to tariff incentives brought by the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), according to analysts. Before the EVFTA took effect, Vietnam’s vegetables and fruits exported to the EU market enjoyed preferential tax rates under the Generalised System of Preferences (GSP), but still at a relatively high level of 10-20 percent. However, after this agreement came into effect, the EU offered a substantial reduction of about 94 percent out of the total 547 tax lines on fresh and processed vegetables and fruits, including those of Vietnam's strength.

"On a regular basis, we invite provincial farmers to the Viet Rau Farm to learn and acquire new perspectives on modern agriculture. This model is the clearest and most persuasive evidence for producers to feel confident using modern organic technology to produce vegetables... Ms. Tran Thi Tu Oanh remarked, "As the demand for safe, eco-friendly, and hygienic products increases, the product's output will remain stable only if farmers are conscious of doing well and adhering to standards."
