Dong Nai is considered the livestock capital of the country, with nearly 2.7 million pigs and more than 25 million chickens. Long Thanh Phat High-tech Agricultural Cooperative (Long Thanh district) alone contributes about 5-7 million chickens annually. In addition to the Japanese market, Long Thanh Phat Cooperative cooperates and exports goods to Belgium and the Netherlands while promoting domestic consumption.
We had an appointment with Mr. Le Van Quyet, Director of Long Thanh Phat Cooperative at Xuan Phu chicken farm (which belongs to the farm system of this cooperative in Xuan Loc district). This chicken farm is located separate from the residential area, surrounded by melaleuca forest. Chickens are raised in cold farms for export to Japan. The farm operates completely automatically in all stages of feeding and drinking. Workers here closely monitor the chicken flock to handle when the chickens show signs of health abnormalities promptly.
The farm uses rice husks as biological bedding combined with probiotics to reduce odors and harmful bacteria to treat manure. Workers caring for chickens must be trained in procedures and livestock knowledge. Each chicken farm has a doctor caring for the animal's food and sleep.
"Farmers are provided with good supplies, input materials, and product consumption when participating in the cooperative. Their main task is to ensure technical compliance to meet quality requirements. The product consumption partner is a Japanese company, so it is very strict about the quality of exported chicken, especially disease issues," Mr. Le Van Quyet shared.
Long Thanh Phat Cooperative pioneered making cold farms to raise chickens in Dong Nai. The chicken farm uses an automatic cooling system. Light, temperature, humidity, and wind speed will adjust according to each season's chicken age. These are the factors that determine success in raising chickens.
By understanding the necessary technical parameters on the farm, farmers can proactively control and prevent pathogens and pathogens that cause disease in chickens from outside. Therefore, the loss rate in livestock farming is low.
Following Mr. Le Van Quyet, we continued to go to the high-tech chicken farm of Long Thanh Phat Cooperative in Cam My district, with an area of 2.9 hectares, designed on floors and implements the first H-shaped barn system in the country, with a fully automated farming technology.
Accordingly, the farm is built on two floors; each floor has three cages, and each cell has three small stories to help increase the chicken raising area without overloading. The expected number of raising in this new form is 90,000 white-feathered chickens specializing in meat.
"This new form of raising chickens will become a trend in the future when land funding becomes a difficult problem. We must always think one step ahead, bringing modern techniques from the world to apply in Dong Nai province. Furthermore, automatic farming technology using H-shaped cages also solves the problem of disease safety and greatly reduces labor," said Mr. Quyet.
Mr. Than Van Can, Head of the Disease Prevention Department (Dong Nai Department of Livestock and Veterinary Medicine), commented: "Thanks to the comprehensive application of modern technology, Long Thanh Phat Cooperative farms always ensure very good hygiene epidemic prevention. Through many times checking the epidemic situation at the farms of Long Thanh Phat Cooperative, the chickens are generally healthy, with no signs of weak chickens or infectious diseases in poultry."
Mr. Nguyen Truong Giang, Director of the Dong Nai Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, assessed that Long Thanh Phat Cooperative is a model unit in many aspects of animal husbandry in the province.
"Not only successful in livestock farming, but Long Thanh Phat Cooperative is also a leader in applying modern equipment and technology in livestock farming and has a very good export direction. We always aim for this for Dong Nai's households and livestock farms," Mr. Giang expressed.
