"From January to October this year, the trade turnover between Chongzuo city and Vietnam reached 129.26 billion yuan, increasing by 8.6% over the same period and accounting for 65% of the total trade turnover between Guangxi and Vietnam. Of which, Vietnamese fruits are favored by many Chinese customers. From January to October, Vietnamese fruits imported through the Chongzuo city border gate reached 710,000 tons. In particular, imported Vietnamese durian increased sharply and reached 403,000 tons, increasing by 10.2% over the same period and accounting for 57.4% of China's total imports of Vietnamese durian," said Mr. Chau Binh, representative of Chongzuo city, Guangxi.
Chongzuo and Lang Son are two sister cities. This year is also the 100th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's revolutionary activities in Guangdong and the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. And 2025 is the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the 95th anniversary of the establishment of the Communist Party of Vietnam. In such an era, the organization of the forum is very important, contributing to promoting economic and trade cooperation between Guangxi and Vietnam.
During the Vietnam-China Agricultural, Forestry, and Fishery Import-Export Trade Connection Forum taking place in Lang Son on December 3, Mr. Chau Binh said that thanks to the efforts of both sides, this year fresh coconuts have been successfully exported officially to the Chinese market. As of now, 12 types of Vietnamese fruits have been allowed to be imported into China.
Last year, the Lung Vai border gate was allowed to import edible aquatic animals. This year, the Po Chai border gate was approved as a designated grain import monitoring location, and the Ai Diem border gate was approved as a designated fruit import monitoring location, providing more convenient customs clearance services for Vietnamese agricultural, forestry, and fishery products into China.
According to the representative of Chongzuo city, this unit participates in the forum with the wish to promote further exchange and cooperation between Chongzuo city and Vietnam's Lang Son province.
"Hopefully leaders and businesses will promote their role as bridges; maintain the reciprocal visit mechanism; build a deeper cooperation foundation with Chinese businesses; promote the outstanding development of trade in agricultural, forestry, and fishery products between China and Vietnam; welcome businesses to participate in industrial cooperation in Chongzuo city; and promote cross-border industrial development between the two sides and win-win cooperation," Mr. Chau Binh said.
Second, actively promote cooperation between Pingxiang Industrial Park (Guangxi, China) and Lang Son Industrial Park (Vietnam). The two sides cooperate together in fields such as investment attraction, commercial processing, international commercial economics, industrial park management, introducing businesses to locate in each other's industrial parks, and providing quality services to businesses in industrial parks of both sides.
When goods depart from the industrial park on this side through the Huu Nghi border gate and Pingxiang railway gate to the industrial park on the other side, the two sides coordinate with associate inspection agencies at the border gate to support and guide customs clearance quickly and conveniently.
Pingxiang Industrial Park and Lang Son Industrial Park discussed this work in early November this year and jointly drafted a cooperation contract, which is currently being approved according to the process of both sides.
Chongzuo city, Guangxi, has four districts and towns bordering Vietnam, four international border gates, one national border gate, and 14 border trading points. Chongzuo is also a regional city with the longest land border and the largest number of border gates in China.
In 2023, the total import and export value of Chongzuo city reached 239.37 billion yuan, an increase of 11.3% over the same period. The total import and export value for 15 consecutive years and the total export value for 17 consecutive years ranked first in Guangxi. The total border trade value continues to hold China's top position.
