According to the Chinese Customs Agency, in September this year, Vietnam became the largest supplier of durian to China, with imports from Vietnam reaching nearly 177.000 tons, valued at 641 million USD. This represents a 90% increase in volume and a 71.5% increase in value compared to September 2023. In the first nine months of 2024, China imported nearly 618.000 tons of durian from Vietnam, valued at 2.45 billion USD, an increase of 72% in volume and 57% in value compared to the same period last year.
In contrast, China reduced its durian imports from Thailand in September 2024. However, for the first nine months of this year, Thailand remained the largest durian supplier to China, with imports reaching nearly 755.000 tons, valued at 3.73 billion USD, a decrease of 14% in volume and 13% in value compared to the same period last year.
In September 2024, China imported 228.000 tons of durian from various markets, valued at 895 million USD, representing a 58% increase in volume and a 39% increase in value compared to the same period in 2023. As a result, Vietnamese durian accounted for nearly 77% of China's total durian imports in September.
For the first nine months of 2024, China imported approximately 1.38 million tons of durian, valued at 6.2 billion USD, an 11% increase in volume and a 5.6% increase in value compared to the same period in 2023.
