The impact of Syngenta on agriculture in Vietnam

To be recognized at the region's most prestigious awards, Syngenta Vietnam underwent a rigorous evaluation process and rigorous voting based on numerous jury criteria, including evaluating business data; evaluating outstanding products and services in the market; conducting an interview at the head office, and conducting a secret ballot by the international advisory board of Enterprise Asia - the region's leading business NGO.

Syngenta's remarkable economic achievements, as well as its support for the growth of Vietnam agriculture, have shown that Enterprise Asia made a really good decision.

Syngenta's heritage in agricultural science spans over 250 years, and over the course of three decades in Vietnam, farmers across all areas have benefitted from the company's plant protection solutions, high-quality seed stock, and competent technical assistance. Thus enhancing the productivity and quality, as well as the value and competitiveness of Vietnamese agricultural goods such as maize, rice, coffee, potatoes, and pepper, and assisting millions of farmers in improving their farming practices and progressively raising their agricultural revenue.

Syngenta's pesticides protect up to 16 million hectares of crops each year, around 180,000 hectares of maize, rice, and vegetables are cultivated using Syngenta seeds, and millions of people are protected from illness with Syngenta's public health protection products.

Pesticide brands such as Amistar Top, Tilt Super, Sofit, Anvil, and Reflect Xtra have become recognizable to millions of farmers and are connected with significant milestones in the growth of Vietnam's agricultural productivity.

Additionally, Syngenta develops technological techniques to assist farmers in adapting their product range to local agricultural situations. This enables farmers to produce more sustainably, strengthen their resistance to climate change, and expand their market access. Syngenta, for example, instructed farmers in Dak Lak on agricultural chemical management for coffee production, created a model of sustainable landscape coffee farming in Lam Dong province, and implemented solutions. Sustainable rice production and residue management techniques in the Mekong Delta, as well as sustainable potato production in the provinces of Lam Dong and Dak Lak.

Developing sustainably for the community's benefit

Syngenta has collaborated with a number of corporations, international organizations, and local governments in Vietnam over the years to contribute funds to numerous projects aimed at fostering sustainable agricultural development, establishing agricultural linkages, and assisting tens of thousands of farmers in increasing crop productivity and improving their quality of life.

Syngenta organizes training on safe and effective pesticide use for over 400,000 farmers and stakeholders each year to ensure that they understand how to use pesticides properly while protecting their own health, the environment, and ensuring that agricultural products meet food hygiene and safety requirements for both domestic and export markets.

Farmers are being confronted with rising problems as a result of climate change, pest and disease pressure, and increased consumer demand for the safety and quality of agricultural goods. As a result, farmers are always interested in and anticipating items with novel technological applications or solutions that provide exceptional efficiency.

Syngenta will continue to develop innovative products that improve farmers' return on investment, help farmers adapt to the challenges of climate change and provide farmers with a broader range of technological options.
