Chairman of the Board of Directors of Saigon Union of Trading Co-operation (Saigon Co.op) Vu Anh Khoa said that Saigon Co.op, as a collective economic unit, the largest cooperative in Vietnam, is fully aware of responsible enough to jointly organize the International Cooperative Alliance to promote the collective economic movement in Vietnam and the region.
Therefore, the regional conference of the International Cooperative Alliance 2024 is a great opportunity for Saigon Co.op to meet and exchange initiatives with domestic and foreign cooperatives, a condition to demonstrate social responsibility and accountability for supporting the development of the international cooperative movement, contributing to bringing Vietnamese goods and goods from other countries to have trade opportunities based on co-operation between cooperatives, promoting cooperatives to grow together.
Regarding the Vietnamese retail market, as well as the operating model of Saigon Co.op, Mr. Nguyen Anh Duc, Chairman of the Vietnam Retailers Association, General Director of Saigon Co.op said: the retail industry is contributing 35% to Vietnam's GDP, but the current retail growth still comes from traditional channels. This shows that there is still much fiscal space for modern retail.
Vietnam is building an independent and self-reliant economy associated with deep, substantive, and effective international integration. Therefore, the collective economic sector and cooperatives must also develop in the direction of self-reliance, which is associated with strengthening links between members, the collective economic sector, and other economic sectors and expanding extensive, substantive, and effective international cooperation.
