On October 24th, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and the Central delegation came to Quang Binh to directly inspect the work of overcoming the consequences of floods and to encourage and give gifts to people affected by rain and flood.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc had a working session with leaders of 5 provinces (Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien - Hue, Quang Nam and Ha Tinh) on flood recovery and rescue. He highly appreciated the Party committees, authorities and people of the provinces for their efforts to prevent rain and flood. He also praised individuals and donors for their support for the people in the flooded areas.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc asked local leaders not to let people suffer from hunger, cold and homelessness. Students must come back to school soon. And the provinces must not make it difficult for the donors. He emphasized that the provinces need to quickly stabilize people’s lives and ensure livelihoods for the people.

Given the aftermaths of this major flood in the Central region, he suggested reconsidering safe hydropower development and afforestation to cover barren hills, preventing landslides. Information technology should be applied to inform and warn people about the weather and natural disasters.

He also instructed ministries to allocate resources to assist central provinces in recovering damage caused by natural disasters and to actively respond to the coming typhoons No. 8 and No.9 so that there won’t be any further damage.

In order to help the provinces to quickly overcome the consequences of floods and rains, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc decided to support each of the five provinces 1,000 tons of rice and 100 billion VND, 20 high speed boats, 384 tarpaulins, 23,146 life buoys of all kinds. Ministries and sectors also provided the people with timely support in food, instant noodles, and drinking water...
