In the global market, prices on the two exchanges, Tocom and SHFE, showed mixed movements.
At the time of the survey, the price of RSS3 on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange (TOCOM) for January 2025 delivery decreased by 2.5 JPY, to JPY 341/kg. For the March 2025 delivery, the price dropped by an additional 1.2 JPY, standing at JPY 347.90/kg.
On the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE), the price of natural rubber for January 2025 delivery increased slightly by CNY 70, reaching CNY 18,245/ton. For March 2025 delivery, the price rose by CNY 75, to CNY 18,400/ton.
Global rubber prices today have shown a slight increase on the SHFE (Shanghai Futures Exchange). According to Chinese financial news website Hexun Futures, the prolonged rainy season in southern Thailand, expected to last until the end of the month, will impact rubber-tapping activities. This may keep raw material prices elevated.
However, Hexun also noted that demand from downstream product manufacturers remains weak due to high costs and low profits.
Thailand's meteorological agency has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall, potentially causing flash floods from December 16 to 17.
The deputy director of China's Central Financial and Economic Commission indicated that the country's economy is expected to grow by around 5% this year.
Thus, global rubber prices on December 17, 2024, have shown mixed movements compared to yesterday.
Domestically, rubber prices have remained stable compared to yesterday.
According to the latest listing, the price of raw rubber at Mang Yang Company is still between VND 434 - 438/TSC; frozen mixed rubber is being bought at around VND 387 - 441/DRC.
At Ba Ria Rubber Company, the price of liquid rubber is between VND 447 - 457/TSC, while frozen DRC rubber with a purity of 35-44% is priced at VND 13,500/kg, and raw material rubber is priced at VND 16,700 - 18,000/kg.
The latest price listing from Phu Rieng Rubber Company shows VND 425/DRC for mixed rubber and VND 465/TSC for liquid rubber.
Thus, the latest domestic rubber prices on December 17, 2024, are being purchased at around VND 434 - 465/TSC.
