Quicken the process of market opening for Vietnamese agro-products

(VAN) Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked China to speed up the market opening and coordinate to improve customs clearance efficiency.

On June 26, the official welcome ceremony for Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation upon an official visit to the People's Republic of China was solemnly held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, China. The event was chaired by Premier Li Qiang of the State Council of the People's Republic of China.

Right after the official welcome ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh held talks with Premier Li Cuong.

According to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, both sides need to promote their geographical advantages and complement each other to promote substantive cooperation in various fields. He suggested that China accelerate market opening for Vietnam's agricultural and aquatic products, creating favorable conditions for the early establishment of Vietnam Trade Promotion Offices in Chengdu (Sichuan) and Haikou (Hainan).

The two sides should also coordinate to improve customs clearance efficiency, avoid congestion of goods at the border gate, resolve problems in a number of cooperation projects in the spirit of "harmonious benefits, shared risks", speeding up the implementation of China's non-refundable aid to Vietnam.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested the two sides strengthen cooperation in the fields of finance, agriculture, transportation, environment, health, science and technology, focusing on several aspects:

Cooperate in digital transformation, green growth, circular economy, climate change mitigation; exchange experiences on macroeconomic management, financial and monetary policy administration; cooperate in cultivation and agro-product processing, disease control, and protection of aquatic resources in the Gulf of Tonkin; strengthen railway, road and sea connections, research and develop a number of standard route and high-speed railway lines connecting the two countries, soon sign an agreement on search and rescue at sea; comprehensive restoration of commercial flights; strengthen cooperation in water resource management in the Mekong - Lancang river basin; well implement the Education Cooperation Agreement, deploy scholarships for Vietnam; implement the Culture and Tourism Cooperation Plan; organized people-to-people exchange activities to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the framework of a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.

Appreciating Vietnam's rapid economic development and dynamic business environment in the region, Premier Li Qiang said that economic and trade cooperation between the two countries has a high degree of complementarity and great potential.

China will further open the market for Vietnamese goods, especially high-quality Vietnamese agricultural and aquatic products, fruits, and coordinate to create favorable conditions for quarantine and customs clearance. China is willing to work together to resolve problems on institutions and policies so that the two countries' trade relations can continue to grow sustainably and achieve new results.

Premier Li Qiang suggested the two sides strengthen strategic connectivity, especially in infrastructure and transport; promote cooperation in economy - trade and investment, especially in the fields of production, manufacturing, agriculture, maintaining supply chains and production chains.

On this occasion, both parties exchanged sincere opinions on maritime issues and affirmed the importance of properly meditating disagreements and maintaining peace and stability in the East Sea.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested strict implementation of the high-level common perception and "Agreement on basic principles guiding the settlement of maritime issues between Vietnam and China".

The two countries will respect each other's legitimate rights and interests; settle disputes and disagreements by peaceful means in accordance with international law, including UNCLOS 1982; promote the effectiveness of negotiation mechanisms on maritime issues; fully and effectively implement the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC), strive to build a Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC) that is substantive, effective, and in line with the international law, including UNCLOS 1982.

At the end of the talks, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Premier Li Qiang witnessed the signing and announcement of four cooperation documents between the ministries, branches and localities of the two countries in the fields of immigration management, market supervision, construction of smart border gate, research on marine environmental management in the Gulf of Tonkin.
