According to Minister Nguyen Xuan Cuong, as an upstream region with land resources, water resources, biodiversity and especially experience in agricultural development, Dong Thap has made good contributions to the economic achievements of the Mekong Delta and the overall development of the country.
“Dong Thap is a rice bowl where rice exports account for 95%, fruit exports 65% and seafood exports 70%. I highly appreciate the contribution of the Party Committee and people of Dong Thap province”, said Minister Nguyen Xuan Cuong.
He remarked that with this new Deputy Minister, the MARD will bring into play its strengths, especially in response to climate change and in the transformation and reintegration of agricultural economic structure of the regions, in which Mekong Delta is the focus.
For his part, Mr. Le Minh Hoan shared that the agricultural sector is currently facing “3 challenges” which are climate change, market volatility and consumer unpredictability.
Therefore, experience is not enough and he hoped to receive support from the Minister, Deputy Ministers and other units of the MARD in his efforts to gain more knowledge and understanding for the comprehensive development of the agriculture sector.
“For 35 years in different positions, including 6 years as Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, I have always been a life-long learner. I learn from everybody, in conversation with them”, the new Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development shared.
At the meeting, the Minister also congratulated the congress of the Party Committee of Dong Thap province.
He hoped that Dong Thap province and the MARD will cooperate more closely in the development of key models in the future, promoting the traditions, potentials and strengths of the province.
Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Le Quoc Phong said that although he had just started his job, he felt a great transformation, investment and change in the farmer’s mind with a lot of enthusiasm from Mr. Le Minh Hoan.
