As a global animal health enterprise under Merck & Co., Inc., Rahway, N.J., USA, MSD Animal Health provides a diverse portfolio of veterinary products, vaccines, solutions, and health management services to veterinarians, farmers, producers, pet owners, and governments worldwide. This commitment, encapsulated in the Science to Make Animals Healthy® initiative, includes a range of technologies such as identification products, source tracing, and monitoring.
The completion of the acquisition of Elanco's aquaculture business further solidifies MSD Animal Health's position in the aquaculture industry. This comprehensive approach aims to promote health, welfare, and sustainability in aquaculture farming, conservation, and fisheries.
Mr Rick DeLuca, President of MSD Animal Health, expressed enthusiasm: "We are excited to welcome our new colleagues to MSD Animal Health and look forward to working together, driven by our shared goal of Science to Make Animals Healthy®."
"With this transaction, MSD Animal Health is well-positioned to transform the aquaculture sector through a robust and comprehensive investment portfolio, including warm water and cold water aquaculture, vaccines, anti-parasitic therapies, water supplementation, and nutrition", added Rick DeLuca.
Following the acquisition of Elanco's aquaculture business, MSD Animal Health will now own innovative products such as CLYNAV®, a new generation DNA-based vaccine protecting Atlantic salmon against pancreas disease, and IMVIXA®, a sea lice treatment therapy, along with water treatment products for warm water aquaculture, enhancing MSD Animal Health's vaccine portfolio.
With increasing demand for protein and food safety, ensuring high-quality food supply and community health protection, the use of vaccines, nutrition solutions, and supplements for aquatic species is increasingly emphasized and expanded.
For many years, MSD Animal Health has heavily invested in comprehensive R&D resources and a modern global supply chain. Presently, MSD Animal Health operates in over 50 countries, with its products available in approximately 150 markets worldwide.
