MARD requests increasing aquaculture production

(VAN) The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) has urged provinces and centrally managed localities to enhance aquaculture production efforts for the remainder of 2024 to meet growth targets.

In Official Document No. 8024, MARD provided directives to strengthen aquaculture output and stability, addressing production demands and export goals.

This document pertains to the enhancement of aquaculture production's trajectory in order to accommodate the growth objectives for late 2024. MARD requests that the People's Committees of centrally-run provinces and cities urgently direct functional units to carry out the following key tasks in order to ensure aquaculture growth targets, stabilize production, and meet the demand for seafood raw materials for processing and export, etc.

Conduct environmental monitoring, provide timely alerts to farmers about adverse conditions, and implement strict disease prevention, especially during off-seasons.

Establish guidelines for winter aquaculture in northern regions to manage prolonged cold spells and temperature drops.

Ensure timely supply of essential inputs like seedlings, feed, and equipment, especially in storm-affected areas. Strictly enforce aquaculture laws, preventing profiteering and price manipulation in seedling circulation. Inspections will ensure compliance with public disclosure of violations.

Continue enforcing Document No. 785 on food safety in aquaculture, especially for year-end and Tet festivals, to ensure safe products for both domestic use and export.

Support businesses, cooperatives, and individuals with cost-saving strategies, improved farming techniques, and environmental management to enhance productivity. Encourage investment in high-value seafood products, OCOP, and Halal certification to boost both domestic consumption and export market reach.

MARD emphasizes comprehensive coordination among stakeholders to sustain growth, improve efficiency, and capitalize on Vietnam’s natural aquaculture potential.
