This year's Tea Festival will be organized by Dai Tu district in early May with many unique contents and programs such as: Booth competition and tea making art performance; Beautiful photo display, tea enjoying space; Organize contests "Golden hands of tea picking", "Golden hands of tea processing"; Auction of tea products; The discussion program promotes the development of products from tea trees, tea culture associated with tourism development...

Currently, the District People's Committee has developed plans and rules for contests; Establish an organizing committee and a jury to score competitions. At the same time, assign specialized agencies to organize training on tea making skills for "tea fields" of cooperatives and cooperative groups in 29 communes and towns to serve the contest content "Tea making art performance"; Selecting the tea hill as the venue for the contest "Golden hands of tea picking"; Assign communes and towns to select and compile a list of members to participate in tea picking and processing competitions...

At this time, at the tea hills in Hoang Nong commune - one of the locations chosen by Dai Tu district to hold the contest "Golden hands of tea picking", preparation steps such as selecting tea hills, weeding, cleaning, etc. environmental protection, organic tea care... has basically been completed.

“After the district issued a plan to organize the Tea Festival, Hoang Nong commune deployed the content of the Festival to organizations, unions and hamlets. At the same time, coordinate with Cau Da Tea Cooperative and Hoang Nong Tea Cooperative to select tea fields, ask people to take care of them according to the correct process, ensuring there are beautiful tea fields to serve the contest", said Mr. Phung Minh Thai, the Vice Chairman Hoang Nong Commune People's Committee.

As a locality with up to 10 craft villages and 3 cooperatives producing, processing and trading tea, La Bang commune has now completed the preparation of tea fields to organize the competitions "Golden hand of tea picking" and "Golden hands of tea processing".

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai, the Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of La Bang Tea Cooperative, as soon as she received the notice to participate in the Festival, the unit coordinated with the Commune People's Committee to select quick tea pickers, with proper technique, and then prepare training and practice tests to select 2 people in the commune to participate in the district-level "Golden hands of tea picking" contest.

“Along with that, we also selected a team of 4 members, prepared 5kg of fresh tea (LDP1 tea variety) to ensure standards and quality to participate in the 'Golden Hands of tea processing' contest... ”, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai shared.

Bring stories into tea products

Not only Hoang Nong and La Bang communes, currently other communes and towns in Dai Tu district have fully prepared the conditions and are ready for the competitions at this year's Tea Festival.

Along with that, to prepare for the beautiful photo display and tea enjoyment space, the Dai Tu District Culture - Sports and Communications Center has compiled over 120 photos of the district, communes and towns' Literature and Arts Association. These beautiful, meaningful, and themed photos will be displayed at the Announcement Ceremony of Dai Tu District meeting new rural standards and the 2024 Tea Festival.

In addition, the Center for Culture, Sports and Communications also coordinated with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dai Tu district to collect images and stories to create a clip about tea product stories and design options for auction tea boxes after organizing the "Golden Hands of tea processing" contest...

The 2024 Tea Festival is expected to be an opportunity for Dai Tu district to promote and turn the local tea brand into a prestigious and well-known brand; creating conditions and opportunities for businesses, cooperatives... to link and exchange experiences in production, processing and consumption of products to increase income for tea growers...

Dai Tu district currently has about 6,600 hectares of tea, of which the commercial tea area is more than 6,200 hectares, the new tea variety area is 5,300 hectares, the tea area produced according to VietGAP standards is more than 1,800 hectares, and 15 hectares are organic.

In 2023, the district's fresh tea bud output will reach more than 80,100 tons, an increase of about 3,000 tons compared to 2022. The district has approved detailed planning of a number of concentrated tea production areas with a total area of over 230 hectares...
