Lobster exports to China increased for the ninth time.
According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), in January alone, exports of lobster to China reached 70 million USD in turnover, a ninefold increase compared to that of last year, accounting for nearly half of export turnover to China.
Thanks to the emergence of lobster exports to China, shrimp exports in general rose by 24% in January, contributing to the total seafood export turnover of 774 million USD in the first month of the year, up 3% year on year.
Crab exports to China also saw a boost, as they reached 18.5 million USD, an eighteenfold increase year over year. Aside from lobster and crab, in January, China also strengthened the importation of other fresh seafood, such as clams and snails, to serve the premium segment during the Lunar New Year.
