Let Vietnamese and Polish consumers know more about each other through agro-products

(VAN) Vietnam's point of view is to continue diversifying, multilateralizing, and approaching many markets in the world, including Poland.

On March 17, a bilateral meeting between the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam (Vietnam MARD) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Poland (Poland MARD) took place in Hanoi in the online format.

Minister Le Minh Hoan and Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam attended the meeting along with representatives from General Departments and Departments of the agriculture sector. The Polish side welcomed the participation of Mr. Henryk Kowalczyk, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Poland, and representatives of relevant agencies.

Mr. Henryk Kowalczyk shared that Vietnam and Poland have always maintained a close cooperative relationship although the world is going through a series of complicated developments. “Vietnam is an important trading partner of Poland.”

Trade activities between Vietnam and Poland at present are very dynamic and diverse, especially in agriculture. However, both sides still have a lot of potentials to further develop in agricultural products and food trades as well as exchanges for more products such as pork, beef and duck.

He highly regarded Vietnam's agricultural industry, which has exported a lot of products to Poland and welcomed Vietnam - one of their most important partners in Asian markets - to gain deeper access to the Polish market.

In response to Mr. Henryk Kowalczyk's sharing of goodwill, Minister Le Minh Hoan said that this meeting was an opportunity for the two Ministries of Agriculture and Rural Development to have a great conversation with each other.

The friendly relationship between the two countries is reflected in the political, diplomatic and economic fields, which serves as a premise for both parties to attain more results in the coming time. The Vietnamese side highly appreciates Poland's support in the field of agriculture and human resource training.

Minister Le Minh Hoan agreed with the statement that trade exchanges between the two countries have made remarkable progress in recent years. Vietnam has a view to continuing diversifying and multilateralizing as well as accessing many markets in the world, including Poland. Minister Le Minh Hoan wishes to create favorable conditions so that Polish agro-products can be present at Vietnamese markets.

“The two countries have agricultural products that are complementary. It is a premise for consumers of each country to have the opportunity to know more about other’s agricultural products.”

Minister Le Minh Hoan hoped that Vietnam MARD and Poland MARD would exchange information more deeply and promote cooperation in areas assigned to them in the upcoming working sessions. The two sides can cooperate to organize a business connection forum and further boost agro-product trading activities, contributing to promoting the two countries' common goals of import and export.

Minister Le Minh Hoan wished to receive support from the Polish Government in the agriculture and rural development sector specifically sustainable aquaculture development; create favorable conditions for Vietnam's agricultural, forestry and fishery products to be exported to the EU market; raise a strong voice in support so that the EU may soon consider removing the IUU yellow card for Vietnam.

“We have also taken a huge step forward in terms of institutions, and have been highly appreciated by countries and organizations in the European Union. The Prime Minister, the President of the National Assembly and other Vietnamese leaders pay great attention to issues concerning the IUU yellow card because aquaculture is an industry that provides livelihoods for many Vietnamese.”

Mr. Henryk Kowalczyk expressed his understanding of the matters mentioned by Minister Le Minh Hoan and pledged to present and highlight Vietnam's efforts in the coming EU forums. He affirmed that Vietnam has great potential to export fishery products to the European Union because the demand for fish in this region is constantly on the rise.
