On September 24, the exhibition space with the theme "HCMC - A City of Colourful Charms" officially opened as part of the 2024 China-ASEAN International Expo (CAEXPO 2024) in Guangxi, China.

The exhibition was organized under the direction of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and co-hosted by the Ho Chi Minh City Investment and Trade Promotion Center and the Trade Promotion Agency of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. It will take place from September 24-28.

At the opening ceremony of the exhibition "HCMC - A City of Colourful Charms," the event was honoured by the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc, Deputy Prime Minister of China Ding Xuexiang, and representatives from the departments and agencies of both nations.

At this exhibition space, Chinese citizens and ASEAN friends will witness firsthand the images and messages of the harmonious flow of Ho Chi Minh City, a land shaped and developed over more than 300 years, showcasing the beauty of the city's landscapes, people, culture, and economy.

"This is also a proud introduction of Vietnam in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular, a city that is beautiful, safe, rich in identity, and respectful of nature," said Tran Phu Lu, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Investment and Trade Promotion Center (ITPC), as he introduced the exhibition space, which is organized into eight main functional areas.

Through this, the exhibition presents the history of the formation and development of the "Saigon - Gia Dinh - Cho Lon - Ho Chi Minh City" area over more than 320 years; the city's achievements in socio-economic development; its potential, strengths, business environment, and specific policies for attracting foreign direct investment; its distinctive and representative export products; tourism promotion; and the diverse cultural and artistic colours, culinary culture, lifestyle, and people of Ho Chi Minh City. Additionally, the space showcases and promotes the traditional Vietnamese ao dai, featuring live silk painting, creating a graceful ao dai, along with performances of traditional Vietnamese music.

According to the ITPC leadership, the exhibition space as a whole aims to convey the complete story of Ho Chi Minh City, showcasing its many colourful charms, along with its aspiration to integrate and develop into an economic, financial, and service hub, and a globally attractive destination.

The highlight of the exhibition is the area showcasing and displaying a collection of Vietnamese ao dai made from Vietnamese silk by designer and artist Trung Dinh. This artisan spent 10 years of his youth researching, exploring, and creating the ombré dyeing technique and hand-painting on silk, contributing to the revival of the silk industry and Vietnamese silk painting art.

The collection is inspired by famous landmarks and architectural sites in Ho Chi Minh City, such as the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Building, the Municipal Theatre, the Central Post Office, the Saigon River, the Landmark 81 complex, and Ben Thanh Market...
