Over a few days Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat and Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Tran Thanh Nam have visited the 4F complex and the circular agriculture models of Que Lam Group in Thua Thien - Hue. Their current state shows that the aspiration of spreading agricultural models is gradually becoming a reality.
A year after launching and despite the complicated developments of the Covid-19 pandemic, Vietnam's first 4F Biosafety Breeding Complex (Farm - Food - Feed - Fertilizer), Que Lam Group’s most advanced work, has not only been a training school for farmers affiliated with the group to implement circular agricultural models but also a place for many locals to visit and study.
Having probiotic technology exclusively transferred from Japan - the core of circular agriculture - along with decades of researching and testing methods of Chairman of the Board of Directors Nguyen Hong Lam and associates, it can now be confirmed that the 4F Complex has helped Que Lam Group be proactive in terms of inputs for circular agriculture models.
At a meeting with Deputy Minister Tran Thanh Nam and a delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), Mr. Nguyen Hong Lam said, "Reality proves that microbiological technology has solved issues concerning inputs for crops and livestock - the foundation of circular agriculture."
From animal feed, fertilizers, pesticides and biological preparations to the treatment of straw and waste, all technical processes have been completed so that the output of livestock is the input of farming and vice versa.
The successful and widespread circular agricultural models in Thua Thien - Hue offer the most convincing proof: households associated with Que Lam have reached the mark of hundreds of sows and hundreds of thousands of slaughter pigs, forming a pork production chain; rice fields of over 300 ha each in eleven cooperatives have affiliated with Que Lam, forming a rice production chain. In the face of market fluctuations, natural disasters and epidemics, farmers' incomes are still always guaranteed to be 15 - 30% higher than usual.
The cultivation and husbandry models have been continuously expanded throughout the city and districts. Areas of animal feed ingredients such as corn and soybean have also been widely developed in the districts of A Luoi and Quang Dien, for example.
The group’s goal of making Thua Thien - Hue the cradle of circular agricultural models, shifting from agricultural production to agricultural economy, is getting closer and closer.
Agreeing with the views of the president of Que Lam Group, Deputy Minister Tran Thanh Nam said that what he was most contented with is that the circular agricultural economy has taken shape: "It's time to consider agricultural by-products as a resource, the output of one sector is the input of another. This is true circular agriculture."
In order to expand the models, in parallel with linking farming households, it is necessary to transfer the circular agriculture model of Que Lam Group to cooperatives.
"The MARD will accompany Que Lam to develop linking models with cooperatives and reorganize production both in cultivation and husbandry. Thua Thien - Hue can serve as one point, taking that as a stepping stone to expand the model to other provinces. Cooperation and transfer projects will develop the organic agro-products value chain. The products will not only serve the domestic market but also aim for exportation," said Deputy Minister Tran Thanh Nam.
After the MARD, a delegation of the Ministry of Science and Technology also visited Que Lam Group’s 4F complex and the circular agriculture models. Having witnessed the whole process of circular agriculture in Thua Thien - Hue with his own eyes, Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat said that he felt very convinced and impressed.
Thua Thien - Hue province is an area with strong science and technology innovations, yearning to become a science and technology center of the Central region. There must be pioneering enterprises in applying technology like Que Lam Group in order to realize this goal.
“With research based on science, proven by practice, Que Lam's models should be widely replicated soon. Reality has shown that these models benefit the livelihoods and production development methods of farmers and cooperatives while being in line with the trend of sustainable agricultural development.
“Regarding the Ministry of Science and Technology, we have supported and are committed to continue to support Que Lam Group to create scientific and technological products that can be applied to production practices like the current models in Que Lam. We will specifically support Que Lam Group to not only realize their great ambition from the perspective of socio-economic development but also create products embodying the quality of Vietnam's science and technology,” said Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat.
