The conference was held both on-site and online with 43 domestic bridge points and 14 bridge points in 10 countries and territories, including China, the United States, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Australia, Belgium, Japan, South Korea, and Hong Kong; as well as approximately 300 international exporters who connect virtually with Vietnamese businesses.

Pham Xuan Thang, Secretary of the Party Committee of Hai Duong Province, noted that the province has a tremendous potential to promote agriculture with a variety of varied, high-quality, and high-yielding products.

The agricultural output of the province of Hai Duong is presently developing toward large-scale and concentrated commodity production, high-tech, smart, and organic adoption. The province produces approximately 750,000 tonnes of rice, 700,000 tonnes of vegetables, 300,000 tons of fruit, and over 200,000 tons of livestock, poultry, and aquatic products.

The One Commune One Product (OCOP) program has evaluated and certified 126 three-to-four star products and two suggested five-star products, with a projected recognition of 250-300 products by 2025.

Specifically, Thanh Ha lychee is produced in accordance with the GAP standard, the export standard with geographical identification, and the original traceability stamp. Today, Thanh Ha lychee is available in nearly every province and city in Vietnam and is exported to major markets such as China, Japan, the United States, France, Australia, and Thailand, among others. In 2021, the export value of lychee based on the actual price reached VND 1,400 billion  (up VND 234 billion against that of 2020).

Mr. Thang explained that based on previous successful lychee harvests, Hai Duong has mobilized the participation of the entire system, from province to localities, to assist farmers in growing, connecting, consuming, and exporting lychee from the very beginning of the harvest.

The province also organizes a five-day agricultural week to promote trade and tourism by displaying, introducing, and promoting industrial products, handicrafts, lychee, key agricultural products, OCOP-certified products, smart agricultural products, and biological products, digital devices, and typical tourism products of the province.

The province also promotes the connection of Thanh Ha lychee and typical products on digital platforms, adopting e-commerce, and multi-media channels that align with the 4.0 trend in order to increase the effectiveness of promotion, trade connection, and market expansion for the province's lychee and main force agricultural products, thereby boosting economic efficiency and boosting farmers' profits.

During his address at the conference, the Deputy Minister of MARD Nguyen Hoang Hiep praised the agriculture industry of Hai Duong for its efforts, direction, and results during the previous several years.

"Hai Duong is one of the provinces that pays close attention to agricultural development and has a defined stance on the subject. In its development strategy, Hai Duong views agriculture, rural areas, and farmers to be the foundation, pillars, and driving forces for a sustainable economy and society ", highlighted Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep.

According to the Deputy Minister, Hai Duong made a breakthrough in agricultural growth in 2021, with an agricultural, forestry, and fishery production growth rate of 6.9%. In addition, agricultural production has evolved toward concentrated goods on a huge scale with great economic value.

The province is recognized as the northern region's vegetable hub, as its annual production of all types of vegetables approaches one million tons. Thanh Ha lychee has established a strong presence in both domestic and international markets.

Nonetheless, amidst the uncertainty of the Covid-19 pandemic, China - the largest agricultural consumption market - has adopted a "Zero Covid" policy, and the confrontation between some nations has caused a number of difficulties and challenges for Hai Duong in particular and the entire nation.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoan Hiep instructed the province of Hai Duong to focus on examining the plans, constructing a concentrated production area, promoting the strength of each region and locality, and creating high-tech agricultural areas in particular. Developing production links along the value chain and encouraging the role of businesses in assisting farmers with production organization, linking markets, and consuming products.

Effectively implementing the issuance and management of planting area codes, packaging establishment codes, and quality standardization in accordance with import market requirements. Strengthening the preservation and deep processing of agricultural products, and establishing a hub for product consumption promotion.

Developing OCOP products, providing favorable procedures and regulations to attract firms, boosting the use of science and technology, and digital transformation in agriculture to increase added value for production. Implement the "Vietnamese people give priority to using Vietnamese products" campaign actively in order to boost the promotion and consumption of agricultural products...

Mr. Do Thang Hai, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, stated that the epidemic scenario remains problematic both domestically and internationally. Therefore, the province of Hai Duong must stay abreast of the pandemic. In the event that direct purchases of lychee and agricultural products cannot be made, the province must quickly connect with domestic buyers, trade centers, and supermarkets to prevent disruptions in circulation and consumption.

Focus on developing production, processing, and exporting according to commodity chains in order to be prepared for any potential dangers over the long term. Constantly seek for new export markets to increase agricultural product consumption initiatives.
