On March 14, Mr. Do Van Lanh, Commanding Officer of Song Doc Border Guard Station (Ca Mau), said that the Border Guard Command of Ca Mau province has implemented the decision of the Provincial People's Committee on sanctioning administrative violations against Mr. Truong Lam Vu, owner of the fishing vessel numbered CM 06051 TS, residing in Song Doc town, Tran Van Thoi district, with a fine amount of over VND 917 million.

Accordingly, Mr. Vu was punished for two acts: exploiting seafood in another country's waters without a license and using a fishing vessel with a maximum length of 12m to less than 15m to exploit seafood in offshore waters.".

Previously, on November 30, 2023, Mr. Vu's fishing vessel departed at Song Doc estuary. After leaving the port, Mr. Vu handed over the ship to Mr. Trinh Van Suot, who was determined to not have a captain's diploma or certificate but was assigned by Mr. Vu to be the captain to go fishing with six fishermen. Mr. Vu alone returned to the mainland.

During the fishing process, Mr. Suot contacted Mr. Vu to ask for advice and received permission from Mr. Vu to take the fishing vessel to foreign waters to illegally exploit seafood.

On December 16, 2023, Thai duty forces discovered this fishing vessel violating the law while patrolling, so they arrested it and are awaiting trial date.
