At exactly 8:50 am on May 2nd, a train convoy consisting of 12 containers carrying sulfur, aluminium, and milk from factories in Hai Duong, Hai Phong, and Hung Yen provinces departed from Cao Xa station (Cao An commune, Cam Giang district, Hai Duong province). Upon reaching Yen Vien station, these 12 containers will be connected to international multimodal trains for export to China.

Since January 2024, Cao Xa station has been renovated and upgraded by the Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR), completing phase 1. During this phase, VNR renovated the freight yard and met the requirements for a specialized external logistics yard. The station has become a crucial point in the railway freight transportation network, connecting Hai Duong with other provinces and participating in international multimodal transportation.
According to VNR, following Kep station (Bac Giang), Cao Xa station (Hai Duong) is the second station to be renovated and upgraded to realize the goal of moving border gates deeper into the inland areas. In phase 2, if approved, VNR will continue to upgrade the Cao Xa station to meet the criteria for an international multimodal station, including conditions for duty-free goods, warehouse facilities, customs procedures, inspection and supervision, reducing the time for procedures and transportation.
Upgrading Cao Xa station to an international multimodal station provides businesses with more options and greater efficiency. The cost of exporting goods may decrease by up to 30%, and the time for delivery and receipt of goods will be shortened, ensuring compliance with schedules and the safety of goods, minimizing the risk of collision and damage.
For agricultural exports, when encountering difficulties in export, Cao Xa station can help address and solve issues locally, ensuring the smoothest and most effective export process.
On May 20th, Hai Duong province is expected to organize the opening ceremony for the Thanh Ha lychee orchard and ribbon-cutting for the first lychee export shipment at Cao Xa station.
