This is a program to honor lotus flowers in the Pink Lotus region to promote the cultural and economic values of products processed from Dong Thap lotus plants, promote the development of lotus-growing agriculture in association with tourism development and create a local image; develop specific products, attract tourists to visit and travel to Dong Thap, contribute to the development of the local economy and society.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thuong, Director of Dong Thap Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism - Standing Deputy Head of the Lotus Festival Organizing Committee said: This Lotus Festival will take place from May 19 to 21, 2022 at Van Mieu Square, Cao Lanh City, Dong Thap Province.
Especially at this festival, there are many impressive cultural and tourist activities being organized such as: The opening and closing art program; Workshop on Improving the value chain of Dong Thap lotus products; the art program "Lotus inside me" exhibiting ao dai, ao ba ba; exchanging of activities, honoring good lotus growers and those producing and processing products from lotus; OCOP product exhibition area, Culture - Tourism, experience program of multi-colored lotus and exchange program on Don ca tai tu - Ho Dong Thap.
Additionally, Dong Thap province will set a record with 200 dishes made from lotus; organize space to display cultural, artistic and calligraphic works from lotus; organize a photo contest and a song composing camp about Dong Thap; parade, lotus car contest; held the Famtrip "A glimpse of Dong Thap"; decorate beautiful lotus pond miniatures on the main roads, Van Mieu Square and Van Mieu Park, Cao Lanh city…
Parallel to the Lotus Festival is the Second Tourism Connection Forum between Ho Chi Minh City and 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta in Dong Thap province.
The opening ceremony will take place at 20:00 on May 19, 2022 at the main stage: Van Mieu Square, Cao Lanh City, broadcasted live on Vietnam Television, Dong Thap Radio - Television Station and a number of local stations.
