On February 19th, Dong Thap People's Committee cooperated with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to organize the export of the first batch of mangoes in 2022 to the European market. The shipment includes three tons of Cat Chu Cao Lanh mangoes.
The exporters are Vietnam Golden Gate Joint Stock Company (VGG JSC) and Westerfarm Vietnam Company Limited. Tinh Thoi Agricultural Service Cooperative (Cao Lanh city, Dong Thap) is the one that supplies the mangoes for this export.
Mr. Huynh Minh Tuan, Vice Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee said that this is a great effort of Dong Thap province as well as Westernfarm Vietnam Company Limited and Vietnam Golden Gate Joint Stock Company in coordinating with mango growers to ensure standards, specifications and quality for exportation.
“Dong Thap is a key locality in fruit production, in which the province's mango growing area is about 13,000 ha, having an annual output of nearly 113,000 tons. The mango area has over 353 ha produced under VietGAP standards and 55 ha under GlobalGAP standards. Mangoes are produced throughout the year and are wrapped in fruit bags to ensure safety and beautiful design.”
Dong Thap has currently registered 62 planting area codes for exports to the Chinese market (3,927 ha), 45 planting area codes for exports to other developed countries (988 ha).
The export of Cat Chu Cao Lanh mango to the European market has opened up great opportunities for Dong Thap’s mango market as well as many other agro-products to conquer other meticulous markets in the world.

According to Ms. Bui Thi Thanh An, Deputy Director of the Trade Promotion Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), Dong Thap is one of the provinces in the Mekong Delta that have a large quantity of mango exported to many demanding markets in the world. One thing to note is that this land grows delicious and high-quality mango varieties such as Cat Chu Cao Lanh mango and Cat Hoa Loc mango.
Farmers and local authorities of Dong Thap province have attained orientations and applied measures of high technology and science to produce mango products with quality up to market demand and beautiful designs that create clear advantages to export to major importers with which Vietnam has had agreements before.
Dong Thap's mangoes entered the US market for the first time in 2019, and now in 2022 Dong Thap mangoes continue the journey to the European market.
It can be said that these are solid steps for Vietnam's mangoes to be present in the world's largest markets. At the same time, this is an opportunity not only for mangoes but also for other agro-products of Dong Thap province in particular and the Mekong Delta in general to penetrate into major markets such as the US and Europe.
