Developing Vietnam's water sector to be secure, safe, efficient and integrated

Vietnam Water Week is an annual key event for the water sector, organized by the Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association (VWSA).

This serves as an international and regional forum that facilitates connections among various stakeholders in the water supply and drainage sector. It provides a valuable platform for sharing experiences and best practices, as well as for transferring technology.

Speaking about this annual event on the morning of October 8 in Hanoi, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Diep, Chairman of the Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association, expressed his hope that Vietnam Water Week 2024 will continue to build on the successes of previous editions, deserving of its leading role in promoting the development of the water sector.

Vietnam Water Week 2024 will take place from November 6 to 8 at the National Exhibition Center for Architecture, Planning and Construction (NECC) in Hanoi.

With the main theme "Developing Vietnam's water sector - Security, safety, efficiency and integration", the event will include four important scientific workshops: Draft Law on Water Supply and Drainage; Managing sustainable water supply and drainage systems in adaptation to climate change; Smart and effective water sector business management to enhance resilience; and Gender equality in the water sector.

This year's event is sponsored by the Ministry of Construction, along with the participation and support of several relevant ministries, including the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

The "International Water Industry Exhibition" is one of the highlights of the event, covering an area of 4.000 m² and featuring 200 booths from 150 organizations and enterprises from over 10 countries and territories, including Austria, Germany, Japan, South Korea, the Netherlands, Singapore and Thailand.

Here, advanced products, equipment, and technologies in the water sector will be showcased, ranging from water filtration and wastewater treatment technologies to modern water resource management solutions.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Diep emphasized: "Considering the vital role of water in sustaining life, it is crucial for us to prioritize efficiency in its use. This will help ensure security, safety, effectiveness, and integration. A notable new focus of Vietnam Water Week 2024 will be on developing a synchronized and efficient water supply system. This is especially important in light of climate change and the need to provide clean water for the population".

The forums held during the event will focus on addressing the various challenges faced by the water sector, particularly in areas such as development, production, and business operations. Additionally, discussions will cover pressing issues related to climate change, land policies, and investment capital.

These challenges are highlighted as a means to encourage the sharing of insights and experiences among participants. By examining these issues, stakeholders can collaboratively explore effective solutions that aim to improve the efficiency of management and operations within the water sector.

Moreover, as a professional organization that brings together more than 400 members, the Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association plays a crucial role in not only gathering and synthesizing the latest mechanisms and policies but also in advocating for necessary reforms. This includes making recommendations to relevant authorities to address financial challenges, land-related issues, water pricing and the quality of clean water.

At the same time, the Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association serves as a bridge between domestic and international companies, facilitating the sharing and transfer of advanced knowledge and technologies. This collaboration aims to enhance productivity and efficiency in the production of clean water.

Furthermore, the Association plays a crucial role in fostering connections among policymakers, funding organizations, international bodies, and enterprises. By facilitating these relationships, the Association aims to promote the exchange and transfer of advanced technological solutions in water supply, drainage, and wastewater treatment. This collaborative effort contributes significantly to promoting sustainable development in Vietnam’s water sector.
