Cuc Phuong National Park and Save Vietnam's Wildlife rescue 11 Javan pangolins

(VAN) The Wildlife Conservation Center in Vietnam (Save Vietnam's Wildlife) coordinated with Cuc Phuong National Park to successfully rescue 11 Javan pangolin individuals.

In the early morning of November 17, 2024, at Me Noi residential group, Liem Chinh ward, Phu Ly city (Ha Nam), the Police Investigation Agency, Phu Ly City Police, discovered a cargo truck with license plate 29H-693 transporting many goods.

Notably, there are four styrofoam boxes wrapped tightly with tape. Inside, there are 13 Javan pangolin individuals, each tied tightly in a mesh bag. The working group of Phu Ly City Police made a record and brought the vehicle and the animals to headquarters for investigation and clarification.

At the investigation agency, the driver admitted that 13 pangolin individuals in four styrofoam boxes were rented by a customer in Da Nang city to be transported to Vinh Phuc province to deliver to another customer.

Immediately, 11 living pangolins were transferred to the Rescue Center of Cuc Phuong National Park. Most of the animals received were in a state of stress, dehydration, emaciation, and diarrhea. In particular, two individuals were seriously injured by traps.

Currently, the case continues to be investigated and clarified by the Police Investigation Agency, Phu Ly City Police.
