Conference held to boost sustainable use of insect

Insects play a key role in human life, agriculture production and social healthcare, said scientists at a national conference in Hanoi.
The 10th National Conference of Entomology themed 'Insects and Sustainable Development' were co-held by Vietnam Academy for Water Resources and Vietnam Biological Association in Hanoi on October 22.

The 10th National Conference of Entomology themed “Insects and Sustainable Development” were co-held by Vietnam Academy for Water Resources and Vietnam Biological Association in Hanoi on October 22.

The scientists and experts from leading research centres and institutes including Vietnam National University; Vietnam National University of Foresty; Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology; Vietnam National University of Agriculturel; Vietnam Academy for Water Resources; Plant Protection Research Institute; Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources and universities from Vinh City and the southern provinces of Can Tho and Dong Thap to the 10th National Conference of Entomology.

The two-day conference themed “Insects and Sustainable Development” were co-held by Vietnam Academy for Water Resources and Vietnam Biological Association in Hanoi on October 22 & 23.

The participants listened to and discussed four subject matters including General Science Report on Insects and Spider; General Report on Entomology; Agricultural and Forest Entomology and Medical and Social Entomology.

Professor and Doctor of Science Bui Cong Hien from Vietnam National University's College of Sciene and Professor and Doctor of Science Truong Quang Hoc from the Institute of Natural Resource and Environment made run on insects conservation, exploitation and research in Vietnam and insects in the global climate change context.

The conference participants had a chance to get to know about scientific reseach results on termite in Vietnam from the 2000s year to present which was delivered by Associate Professor and Doctor of Science Nguyen Quoc Huy, from Institute of Ecology and Works Protection.

From Vietnam National University of Agriculture, Associate Professor and Doctor of Science Nguyen Duc Tung reported on spider damage crops control situation in Vietnam whilst Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology's Association Professor and Doctor of Science Pham Dinh Sac spoke about species and distribution of spider in Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park in central province of Quang Binh.
