The World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF) in Vietnam and the People's Committee of Tam Nong district have just held a ceremony in Tam Nong district (Dong Thap province) to sign the community commitment to the conservation and sustainable development of Tram Chim National Park.
At the signing ceremony, representatives of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, representatives of WWF, and leaders of the Tam Nong District People's Committee highlighted the practical meaning and importance of conservation and sustainable development of Tram Chim National Park.
Especially the recovery and development of cranes, restoration of wetland ecosystem habitats in Tram Chim National Park; restoring and expanding the area of metal energy to enrich food sources for red-crowned cranes; maintaining and expanding "ghost wild rice" area in service of scientific research; additional planting of indigenous tree species, melaleuca... to increase forest area, increase biodiversity, and meet ecotourism needs. In addition, the ceremony also aims to call on everyone to commit to the conservation and sustainable development of Tram Chim National Park.
Representatives of Tram Chim National Park guided representatives of local authorities around the buffer zone and representatives of households to sign a commitment to the community to implement 10 main contents on conservation and sustainable development of Tram Chim National Park:
The strict observance and compliance with legal regulations on conservation and sustainable use of wetlands; saving and protecting water sources every day; not cutting down, burning forests, destroying or harming the typical ecosystem of the Park; not hunting, trading, or consuming wild and rare animals and plants, and not to illegally exploit or over-exploit natural resources, to ensure the regeneration of resources in Tram Chim National Park; do not use forms of mass destruction fishing; no unauthorized encroachment into the Garden; detect and notify authorities of violations, threats, and dangers on Tram Chim National Park.
