Realizing that the Mu Cang Chai land has a year-round cool climate and abundant land, in 2019, Mr. Pham Quang Tho decided to establish T&D Clean Agricultural Cooperative with seven members to produce clean chayote at Hang Gang Peak (Lao Chai commune).

The Cooperative's entire process of planting, tending, weeding, and harvesting is carried out in an organic direction. Water is brought from the ravine by plastic pipes, and the fertilizer is completely composted manure. Weeding is done manually or using a small plow to loosen the soil. During the care process, it is only necessary focus on thinning the leaves to have enough light under the trellis for evenly large, green, shiny, sweet, and fragrant chayote fruits.

During the harvest crop, on average each day, the Cooperative supplies 7–10 tons of fruit to wholesale markets in Yen Bai, Phu Tho, and Hanoi at prices of 5,000–7,000 VND/kg at the beginning of the crop and 10,000–12,000 VND/kg at the end of the crop. Currently, a number of customers from India and Taiwan have also come to learn and wish to import the Cooperative's chayote.
Besides, in 2023, the Cooperative's chayote fruit was recognized as meeting 3-star OCOP standards, with fragrant, sweet quality and beautiful design.

In the lowlands, people can only grow chayote in the winter, but here chayote is harvested throughout the summer until the end of the year, so it has a high and stable value.
Mr. Pham Quang Tho said that some households participating in growing chayote, such as Mr. Giang A Bao and Giang A Cau in Hang Gang village (Lao Chai commune), now earn an income of 200-300 million VND/ha/year.

The Cooperative's goal is to improve the quality and design of chayote fruits; continue to invest in packaging and label design; promote products at clean agricultural product display booths inside and outside the locality; and continue to focus on care processes and techniques according to the standards of Taiwanese partners to be able to export.
