The solution to increase crop productivity and protect human health

The majority of countries around the world are trending towards sustainable production, enhancing crop yield, meeting food security needs, minimizing adverse factors impacting human health and the environment, and enhancing climate change resilience. Consequently, the utilization of biological plant protection products has been considered the most viable option.

With the goal of sustainable innovation to shape the future of the global agricultural sector, after 20 years of research and development, Bayer Vietnam officially introduced the SERENADE® SC biological disease control product in Vietnam. This biological solution not only aids farmers in protecting crops, improving crop productivity and quality but also ensures safety indicators for humans and the environment, meeting export standards for numerous high-end markets worldwide.

As an advanced biological technology solution, SERENADE® SC is safe for both human and the environment. The product features a short isolation period and leaves no residues in agricultural produce, thereby expanding the potential for exporting Vietnamese agricultural products with consistent quality to the global market. Additionally, this solution has been certified by the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) in the United States and the European organic certification organization - ECOCERT.

SERENADE® SC contains the unique and patented Bacillus Subtilis QST 713 bacterial strain. As a result, SERENADE® SC has a stable mode of action, and its storage and usage limitations are comparable to other plant protection products currently available in the market. Furthermore, SERENADE® SC can be applied in conjuction with other pesticide products on the market.

Test results indicate that the biological solution SERENADE® SC significantly enhances plant vitality, with an estimated increase in yield and rate of premium-quality fruits by 5 to 10% compared to conventional farming practices.

Before its official launch in Vietnam, Bayer Vietnam conducted trials of the biological product SERENADE® SC on several farms in Vietnam for five years, with positive results.

Mr. Tran Van Ngu, a farmer who applied experimented with SERENADE® SC on his tomato farm in Da Ron commune, Don Duong district, Lam Dong province, shared: "After using SERENADE® SC, I noticed that the stems, leaves, and branches of the tomato plants are more appealing, the leaves are thicker, the stems are larger and stronger. The flower branches are healthier, resulting in a higher fruiting rate, and the first harvest was of high quality."

Collaborating with PepsiCo to provide sustainable farming solutions

Within the framework of the SERENADE® SC launch event in Lam Dong province, Bayer Vietnam and PepsiCo signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at strategic collaboration to promote and provide sustainable farming solutions for local farmers. The collaboration marks a significant step for both parties, with the focus on a common goal of sustainable growth, clean agriculture, and technology implementation.

Both parties will conduct various trials to expand the product's usage on multiple crops. They will also collaborate to implement programs that update and disseminate advanced farming practices for Vietnamese farmers. This effort aims to ensure a reliable supply of raw materials for PepsiCo's food production chain, meeting strict standards and quality requirements.
