Xuan Thien launched the first project in a series of billion-dollar agricultural projects

(VAN) On June 10, Xuan Thien Group started the construction of a high-tech agricultural park project in Dak Lak, starting a series of billion-dollar projects.

An ambitious project

Dak Lak has over 1.3 million hectares of natural area (the 4th largest in the country) with a population of over 2 million people. This province has many potential and advantages for agricultural development including 650 thousand hectares of production land (largest in the country) and 735 thousand hectares of forestry land, mild climate, relatively levelled topography of agricultural production land. Dak Lak has over 300,000 hectares of fertile basalt red soil, which is considered the best agricultural production land.

Dak Lak has strongly developed agricultural production businesses and cooperatives in recent years, but most of the production remains fragmented, small, scattered, with little attention to market factors, product quality and food safety.

Competitiveness between businesses is not high, applied techniques are disorganized. This has lead to low productivity and inconsistent product quality. Dak Lak has not formed concentrated production areas, uniform in quality and product standards, resulting in a low level of competitiveness as well as difficulty in finding consumption.

Realizing the potential for agricultural development, Xuan Thien Group has implemented the project of Xuan Thien - Cu M'gar High-tech Agricultural Park in Ea K'pam commune, Cu M'gar district. The project has a total investment capital of 705.6 billion VND, with a scale of 107.6 hectares.

The high-tech agricultural park will have the following main objectives: Testing and selecting the production of high-yield, disease-free and high-quality plant varieties; building demonstration models of agricultural production with high technology application and technology transfer; forming a center for processing, preserving and consumption of agricultural products; forming attraction sites for agricultural education and eco-tourism; joint training of officials and farmers in high-tech agriculture, etc.

The project is expected to complete construction by the fourth quarter of 2023. Subsequently, high-quality products from the project will be available to the market by the first quarter of 2024.

Xuan Thien Group aims to build "Xuan Thien - Cu Mgar High-tech Agricultural Park" towards a Center of Original Seeds for the Central Highlands.

The project will apply high technology, utilize modern equipment to create high-quality agricultural products and provide specialties from agricultural production such as: green coffee, durian, avocado, vegetables, flowers, medicinal herbs (Lingzhi, Lingling, Northen ginseng, edible mushrooms). These products can reach up to thousands of tons/year in quantities.

Plant varieties such as vegetables, flowers, mushrooms, medicinal herbs, coffee, pepper, durian, etc. will be marketed with hundreds of thousands of plants. The project also provides 170,000 high quality seed  a year to the market. Regarding eco-tourism activities, the project aims to welcome thousands of visitors annually once it enters stable operation.

In addition to 107.6 hectares in Ea K'pam commune, Cu M'gar district, Xuan Thien Group is proposing to build a series of billion-dollar projects, with component projects include: Original Seed Center (plant varieties and pig breeds); high-tech pig raising; animal feed factory; planting trees as raw materials for juice factories (in association with cooperatives and households); fruit juice factory; microbiological fertilizer factory; Smart Logistic center (which includes customs, finance, banking, exhibitions, agricultural demonstrations, cold storage and so on).

The Group's plan is to establish a regional center in Dak Lak, with emphasis on the all-in-one logistics and display area, including the exhibition area, demonstration farms, product samples, storage and processing warehouse for agricultural products, banks, customs zones, merchants guarantees. Industries and businesses only need to visit and research within the center to acquire enough information and data to complete procedures, sign purchase and sale contracts, import and export procedures.

Mr. Nguyen Huy Hoang, General Director of Ea Sup 3 Joint Stock Company (Xuan Thien Group), said that the project series has a total investment capital of over 1 billion USD. The project series is expected to bring in an annual revenue of 33 trillion VND; an annual local tax payment of nearly 2,000 billion VND; attracting 10,000 laborers in the province and the region.

“The series of projects is implemented by the Group in line with the resolutions, programs and projects on agricultural development of Dak Lak province. This is to maximize the local potential strengths in the agricultural sector. In the process of mplementing the project, the Group will prioritize ethnic minority workers to help locals benefit from the project", said Mr. Hoang.

Deep processing and logistical problems

According to Mr. Nguyen Huy Hoang, Dak Lak has a lot of potential for agricultural development, so Xuan Thien Group decided to establish a project for a production, breeding, high-tech food processing and logistics complex.

Although investment in agriculture is a low profit, high risk challenge, Xuan Thien Group understands that agriculture is a truly sustainable investment field; especially for localities with great potential in the Central Highlands.

The project aims to bring the province's strengths into play, as well as bring businesses into play to solve problems, remove bottlenecks in the agricultural sector, transform and improve farmers' lives. As a result, the project will train farmers to be agricultural workers, help farmers grow rich on their own land. Additionally, the project will help keep the agricultural sector from being fragmented, passive, and dependent on traders.

“In the process of implementing the project, we will apply the world's leading advanced technology in agricultural production and food processing; thereby promoting and improving the value chain of agricultural products of Dak Lak province, the Central Highlands region as well as the agricultural sector" added Mr. Hoang.

According to Mr. Hoang, Vietnam is an agricultural country, but the attraction of domestic investors in the agricultural sector is still limited. The agricultural problems of deep processing and logistics remain unsolved.

“I hope that with the high-tech agricultural processing chain, Xuan Thinh will contribute to innovating agriculture in the Central Highlands, and the country. The project not only connects the agricultural product value chain but also promotes the development of goods by road and air, as well as the timport, export and transshipment activities within Buon Ma Thuot city and the Central Highlands region.

The banking and financial centers in this project chain will support investment in the agricultural sector, serving as an exhibition for agricultural products as well as promote Vietnamese agricultural products to international partners", shared Mr. Hoang.

Xuan Thien Group also commits to contribute 200 million VND/hectare to the state budget annually, provide guidance on technology, cooperate in the purchase of agricultural products from farmers, thereby improving their income sustainably.

“The implementation of the Xuan Thien - Cu M'gar high-tech agricultural park project will be a turning point for the local agricultural sector. Dak Lak province previously had many small-scale high-tech agricultural investment businesses, and they did not meet expectations.

Xuan Thien Group's Project, once in operation, will build a enclosed process from seedlings to processing and consumption. Dak Lak agricultural products have always had a disadvantage in terms of logistics. When the smart logistics area and the exhibition, demonstration area of Xuan Thien Group are constructed, Dak Lak as well as the Central Highlands will have to opportunity to develop agriculture commensurate with its inherent position”.

Mr. Y Giang Gry Nie Knong, Vice Chairman of Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee.
