Watch the gaurs at twilight in Cat Tien National Park

Thứ Tư 19/07/2023 , 17:36 (GMT+7)

(VAN) Gaur is a rare natural animal in Cat Tien, particularly during the rainy season, and we are fortunate to encounter them day and night, just like them.

The Bos gaurus, also known as the gaur, is a massive, dark-haired bovine (Bovidae) that lives primarily in the highlands of India and Southeast Asia. When participating in nocturnal excursions in Cat Tien National Park, it is possible to encounter dozens of gaurs.

The number of extant gaur in Cat Tien National Park is comparatively high, but due to their solitary lifestyle, few people have the opportunity to see them. Especially during the rainy season, when food and water are abundant in the forest, in addition to the gaur\'s phobia of thunder.

During the day, gaurs frequently choose familiar grasslands to forage, but the likelihood of spotting heifers in these areas is only about 20% due to the influence of numerous factors. Cows prefer shaded weather, particularly when the sun is about to set, between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., when the sun is about to set.

In addition, if visitors stand at the head of the wind, their body odor will reach the cows, who are extremely sensitive to scents and tend to avoid humans. The photograph depicts a herd of over 20 gaurs migrating into the forest at the first trace of rain.

At the end of July, during the height of the rainy season in Cat Tien, the entire herd of cows followed the trail into the forest while the approaching storm was still far away. On the afternoon of July 17, 2023, photographs of this livestock can be taken.

In addition to gaur, Cat Tien National Park is home to a variety of other wild animals that visitors can readily encounter during the nocturnal animal viewing program, such as deer, giraffes, etc.

When the tour group participates in Cat Tien National Park's night animal viewing program on the evening of 16 July 2023, the guide's flashlight illuminates herds of small animals.

Cat Tien National Park is one of the few locations in Vietnam where visitors can observe wild animals in their natural habitat. Therefore, visitors to this location cannot overlook the fascinating opportunity to observe animals at night.

Daily viewing hours for nocturnal animals in Nam Cat Tien forest are from 7 p.m to 9 p.m. From the starting point, the guide will transport you by convertible through the tranquil forests to the extensive grasslands, where numerous animals find sustenance.
